Baby's reaction to sound

I'm 25+2 and I'm a bit worried that my baby doesn't seem to be reacting to sound yet. Books say that you can start to be aware of your baby being startled by loud noises from about 23 weeks I think, but so far I haven't been aware of anything like this and there doesn't seem to be any reaction to my voice or my husband's.

Up until last night I was sure this was just because I hadn't actually been aware of it (I also have an anterior placenta so kicks can be a bit muffled anyway so I might not feel a reaction). But I went to the theatre last night and in the middle of a quiet scene there was a loud unexpected gunshot noise. I didn't feel any reaction from baby.

Now I am paranoid that there is something wrong with his / her hearing. Can anyone tell me if / when your baby started to react to external noises and how you knew?

I'm 25 +3 and don't think this baby reacts to noises either. I also don't remember my first reacting to loud noises. She did react to the bath but later on, like 30+ weeks.

It must be very muffled in there and they sleep most of the time too. They're very often not startled or even register noises once they're born either so I wouldn't stress about it Smile

Phew, ok, thanks for the reassurance!
