Has anyone else's 2nd DC engaged at 30 weeks?

I've been carrying DC2 low for a while now and seems to hide from the midwife a lot. I had to go for a growth scan at 27 weeks (measured 24) but the scan showed everything was in line with the 20 week scan. My consultant even measured and it was correct at 29 weeks but commented "it felt small".
The last couple of days I've had that feeling low down as if the baby's head is engaged, especially when walking.
I'm getting all paranoid now after hearing the head doesn't normally engage until much later in 2nd pregnancies. Is this normal and I'm just flapping over nothing? Blush

Apparently in second pregnancies the baby's head can drop into the pelvis and back out again, so although it may be engaged one week it may not be the next (unlike first pregnancies where generally once baby is engaged, they are fixed there!) so unlikely to be a cause for concern. Why not ring the midwife to put your mind at ease?

Yep that's right. Subsequent babies heads can slip into engaged and not engaged several times throughout pregnancy.

Thank you I feel much better now. As soon as I read your messages my brain went "yeah that makes perfect sense why have you being panicking fool". I guess thats why I haven't mentioned it in RL to anyone!

This happened to me with DC2 just like DC1 - if you've been fairly active and fit in between pregnancies then your muscles go back to pretty much where they were before your first and the second can engage just as quickly because they're being 'funneled' down. Both previous DCs were engaged by 32 weeks and stayed there.

Thanks ZuleikaD that's good to know too. I'm much trimmer with this pregnancy and active so that's probably it. I think I just had an epic logic fail!
