Anyone with a high blood result NOT had gestational diabetes?

Last week I had a blood sugar test - no fasting but drinking Lucozade an hour before taking my blood. I got the result today and my level was 8.3. I have to have a full glucose tolerance test in January because of this. I am now really worried about what might be wrong with my baby if I do have GD. Is it still possible that I don't? Has anyone had a one off high reading and then been fine at the GTT? I'm so scared :(

I had a high reading after the lucozade test and the GTT went on to show that I did have GD. It's scary to get diagnosed with anything in pregnancy, but GD wasn't really that bad. It was well monitored and under control, and DD is a very healthy 18 months now :) the worst thing was that I had a strict diet, but actually I think I was healthier in the last trimester because of it.

I hope your GTT comes back negative, but just wanted to reassure you that GD is not awful and loads of the ladies on here have had it so there are some good threads on it.

I had a high reading at about 10 weeks, first set of bloods. Was sent for a GTT and which turned out fine. At 16 weeks I had some glucose in my pee sample so went for a fasting blood test. All fine again.

Try not to stress Smile it might be fine.

Thanks ladies. My first trimester random glucose test result was 3.8. I'm hoping this means that I didn't have diabetes already. I've been scaring myself with the reports of birth defects in diabetic mothers.

wandering I'm glad everything turned out ok for you, that is reassuring.
