Really struggling to stop eating - should I resist?

I'm currently almost 33 weeks with DD. Already have DS, almost 2.

Now, normally I am a very petite size 8. Enjoy running but, in fairness, don't have to work too hard to keep my weight down. Always about 7.5-8st. Just been lucky like that.

Anyway when I was preg with DS I put on 4.5 stone. He weighed 10lb at birth. I ate so much food (a lot of it junk), I almost felt out of control with it. Never experienced anything like it.

Now, I'm already over 10.5 stone and constantly hungry. Am eating 3 balanced meals a day but snacking lots and lots of puddings.

Should I resist this or go with it as likely to be my last baby. Just the thought of having to shed all this weight afterwards is depressing!

Just a thought, are you eating enough during your 3 meals? are your portion sizes ok?

IcouldstillbeJoseph · 19/12/2012 19:47

Oh my god the portions are huge - I can eat as much as my husband! It's like a total overhaul of my normal eating urges when I'm pregnant.

With DS I would wake up in the night and be so hungry I'd have to get up and have something substantial to eat. I have been tested for gestational diabetes (as DS so big) and it's not that....

Well, I'd lost 2.5 stone just after delivery by the time I went home. But then I lost most of it easily but needed to exercise at about 8 months postnatal to shift the last bit of belly flab. Otherwise it went ok as soon as my appetite regulated again - but certainly not back into a size 8 as quick as I'd like!

I suggest you try to eat slowly. Use small plates or keep portions small. If you want to go back for more servings, that's fine, but try to take food in slowly. I think you'll end up getting full on less that way.

And make sure you drink plenty.

I am also always hungry I don't really weigh myself ever so wouldnt be able to tell you much of how much I have gained during pregnancy. Though it doesnt seem to me I have gained a lot other than a bump and streachmarks.

I try and eat 4 times a day as apposed to three. Having an extra sandwhich or soup or something like that. I this as it stops me from snacking. It is usually a mid afternoon or supper time I have the extra meal. Otherwise I would be snacking on junk food all day. (Still eat way too much junk but nevermind)

Twitchytail - well you've also made me feel better as I thought a year to get back to original weight was quite a long time!

Im the same, im usually 10 st (am 5ft 11) but this pregnancy I have been eating like there's no tommorow, I wasn't like this with the last one.
I think im really going to cut portion sizes down as I like to eat often, but feel im meant to have proper big meals as well, which really isn't necessary!!
Im too scared to weigh myself!
