The MW didn't seem to listen to me whenever I told her how many weeks I was, she asked me about 3 times how far along I was, then booked me in to see me at 39 weeks - but had to point out that the date she'd picked was when I'd be 41 weeks and would have already had an ECS Hmm so she really wasn't paying attention to my dates/weeks

so don't feel reassured by her not commenting on the fact that I was only measuring 36 when I'm 37&3

Is it normal to vary a bit around now, or is it something that could be something??

thanks Confused

I wouldn't be worried: a tape measure is a very inaccurate way of doing things...And I'm sure I remember from #1 that 2 weeks either way (ie 2cm smaller or bigger than what it 'should' be) was fine - didn't increase my faith in the system, but shows how it is pretty inexact.

thanks! I did think that if it was done 3 times by 3 different people it might vary by a cm or 2, it was mainly the fact that the MW wasn't listening to my dates that made me worry, because if she had been listening and not reacted to the measurement then I wouldn't think twice about it IYKWIM

She just sounds a bit rubbish..

I'm 40+6 now and still measuring 36cm - i have since 36 weeks. The things they look for are ongoing growth, and that you aren't more than 3cm out, so nothing to worry about in your case. (They sent me to a growth scan as a precaution and it showed the baby seems to be measuring fine btw, just have a fairly small bump, so if you want reassurance ask for this)

Sounds like your midwife was just being a bit scatty.

I wouldn't worry, with DS2 I was measuring 2 weeks behind the whole time! He is a fine healthy 14 month old now! He was just 6lbs 6oz born. DS1 measured spot on the whole time and was 7lbs 14oz born.

I am 36 weeks and only measuring 28cm, have had 3 scans since 30 weeks and baby is measuring a little above average.
