I don't think that's anything to worry about. If you were bleeding that I'd worry. I think that might be normal discharge.

Thanks for the advice , so this can be quite normal at six weeks?

I had discharge for most of my second pregnancy, luckily my second so I was a bit more laid back about it all, else I'd have been panicking too.

I think clear or yellowy is ok (anyone else correct me if I'm wrong). If it's red or brown (old blood) then more to worry about.

Congratulations by the way!

Is this your first pregnancy lil?
If you aren't having any pains (well not any, it's mostly period-like ones or a feeling of tension in your uterus that is worrying) I'd say you're perfectly fine.

If you're having any pg symptoms (not all women have any at this stage, mind), you should worry if they ALL suddenly stop.

Otherwise you're fine.

TBH unless you see bright red, fresh blood it highly unlikely you're miscarrying.

And there have even been cases when women who were spotting red, or even properly bleeding, went on to have normal pregnancies. Alhough I must say such cases aren't very common.

Brown or pink spotting is a bit more tricky, sometimes that could be a sign of a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy but in many a case that's normal, too.

I spotted brown twice with DS, at 9 and 11 weeks, freaked out both times (previous miscarriage :() and was referred for an early scan. This time round, I was spotting like hell from about 7 to about 10 weeks. Did go to a GP, but because I wasn't too panicky they didn't refer me :( I'm currently 19 weeks and all going well so far.

In fact, yesterday when DS was sitting in my lap he got a swift kick in the nuts from his younger sibling! So hard he felt it through his very thick joggers! Xmas Grin

So I suggest, if you have more spotting you're worried about, go to your GP, BIG IT UP, and hopefully they'll refer you. Mind they're highly unlikely to send you for a scan until you're at least 7+ weeks because it's often too hard to see anything yet and the heartbeat may not yet be heard.

You could also try a private scan if you can afford that (here in Herts it costs around £60-80) but again, they may be unable to see much this early on.

Best of luck, but TBH you probably have nothing to worry about :)

chill out then Xmas Smile
I know all too well how panicky we ladies can get before we have our first baby. You'll be much more laid back next time round Xmas Wink

lilangel101 · 19/12/2012 19:27

Thanks turquoise, did you experience this aswell?

I had this. Someone suggested it might have been a bit of the mucus plug, but I don't know if it was. It wasn't a sign of anything untoward though. Everything seems to go a bit weird down below during pregnancy.

lilangel101 · 19/12/2012 20:07

I also had sickness this morning and now it's gone
Does this come and go?

I get the yellow stringy mucus, did in last pregnancy all way through its pretty normal. N yea its common for sickness to.come and go x

TurquoiseTranquility · 19/12/2012 20:49

sory lil, experienced what exactly? Yellow discharge - no, terrible anxiety - OH YES!!!

Sickness can come and go, in fact you're lucky if it does :) I never had any vomiting but was terribly nauseous till about 15 weeks this time (not constantly, it did come and go without any rhyme or reason). But a friend was bringing EVERYTHING up until about 15-16 weeks including TEA!! I really feel for the poor ladies who suffer from sickness that much.

What I was talking about RE symptoms disappearing is more to do with a really noticeable change in how you feel. In my first pregnancy, I felt terribly tired virtually from the day I did the test. I mean so tired even when I was lying down I felt crushed. Had that again with DS and to a lesser extent this time round as well. That's progesterone playing up! Anyway, in my 1st pg, I was also a little nauseous, but the main thing was the tiredness. One fine morning I got up feeling completely fine - lots of energy and no nausea. I was flying! But within 24 hours I miscarried :( I later discovered that such a sudden disappearance of all pg symptoms is a sign of mc.

TurquoiseTranquility · 19/12/2012 20:50

Just remembered, my midwife did ask if I was having any yellow discharge and said it's common and normal. But I never had any.

Violetroses · 19/12/2012 20:59

Is totally normal - happened with all 3 of my successful pregnancies from about 6 weeks Smile.

Congratulations!
