Started with a migraine this afternoon about 3pm (used to get them before being pregnant) which gradually got worse so went to bed an tried to sleep it off which normally works but it felt like my head was going to explode (total over exaggeration I know lol) so I took 2 paracetamol and managed to get a bit of sleep. It had calmed down a bit but my head is still aching is there anything else I can do? I do have migraine medication but when I asked the doctor about taking them she couldn't give me a definately answer on wether it was safe or not. Felt sick once I got up but now I'm back in bed that seems to have gone. I'm only 11+3 an I was worried about taking the paracetamol but I had to as I felt so bad. Any help would be appreciated Smile

Everybody's different but things that help me (apart from drugs!) are: cold patch on my forehead / temple, keeping my body warm and my head cold, large hot meals, hot showers, periods of activity intersperced with rest (rather than just lying in bed all day). Migraines are so weird though you may find totally different things help you - just do what your body's telling you rather than what you feel you 'should' do.

I suffer from migraines and did get excruciating ones while pregnant . I found lying in a roasting hot bath with a freezing cold flannel over my face worked best . I suggest a bath pillow or rolled up towel for under your neck I found lying straight onto the bath with a migraine felt like the bath was pressing right into my skull . Hope you find your cure soon !! Sad

As a migraine sufferer myself I can really sympathise. Thankfully when pregnant I had far fewer migraines but found what helped a bit when u did get one was Vicks vapour rub on my head. (As one of the few things I could use in pregnancy I used to use it to treat everything!!) Hope your migraine clears soon.

Paracetamol is safe. I sympathise as while my migraines have got better in pregnancy, the ones I've had have been doozies. Even if you don't feel like it, try to keep hydrated and to eat something as low blood sugar can make them worse.

I had awful migraine this weekend. Took paracetamol every four hours. Kool and soothe patches. Hot bean bag around neck and back of head. It was really horrible... It will pass but grim when you're in the middle of it x

Oh and 4head stuff to roll on or tiger balm x

Soluble paracetamol e.g. Panadol is far more effective than tablets. It may not stop your migraine but it might dull the pain. I got this advice from my GP.

I hope you recover quickly

Do ensure your water/liquid intake is sufficient, I find I have to drink a lot lot more when pg.
