Flu jab?

I'm c 9 weeks pregnant and my maternity booking in appt is this weekend. They offer the flu jab at this appt. Slightly in 2 minds whether to have it - I'm sure it is safe as far as can be tested but anyone got any strong views either way?

Not strong but I've had it and it was the best decision! Just because I work with children and everyone around me is snivelling and (touch wood) I don't seem to be catching the colds let alone flu x

Have had it in past two pregnancies.

Haven't had any side effects or the flu either time. M

Personally I think the risk of complications as a result of getting flu when pregnant - including you ending up in ICU and possibly going into premature labour - are significantly worse than the possible consequences of the flu jab itself. I had mine done at about 9 weeks.

I have had mine at 12 weeks, am now 24 weeks and OH is not well with 'man' flu and so glad I had the jab now!

I was in 2 minds but decided to get it. Not heard if any bad side affects of having it and even getting a temperature when preggers can be harmful for baby.

Having had a chest infection in early pregnancy I was more then happy to have the flu vaccine when it was offered to me. Women have suppressed immunity when pregnant so are very vulnerable to all bugs, and less able to fight them off. Severe flu can be dangerous to the baby.

Thanks everyone! Will be getting the jab - I agree the complications from flu are significantly worse than the unproven risks of the vaccine. I didn't reply last night as I had gone to bed with a nasty cold which has swung the balance of any remaining doubt!

I got the flu jab about a month ago and was so glad I did as about a week later people started dropping like flies at work! Then there was me, sitting like a sucker with a giant grin on my face because I didn't get sick Grin
