Can I dye my hair?! (I am being an idiot?!)

So my best friend does my hair, and had planned to dye my hair this Saturday. Well I'm anywhere between 4 and 8 pregnant and was wondering if it's safe to, I've googled it and there's conflicting opinions, I asked her and she said in the salon they don't do it but she wasn't told at college when training that she wasn't supposed too.
I wouldn't care but I had a hair disaster before getting pregnant and after leaving my hair to settle and repair for a few months it really badly needs doing.
It's very trivial I know but I already feel and look like shit, I just want to feel better about myself for a week or two!

And the title was supposed to say (Am I being an idiot?!) dohhhh!

Think it's generally ok, from research I did though I waited until I was in second trimester as this is considered safer (they may have been American recommendations?) so maybe wait a few more weeks

Afaik it's fine for the baby for you to use hair dye but you should have the skin patch test 24 hours beforehand even if you're using the same products as you always have because pregnancy can change your tolerance for things.

I dyed mine while pregnant. NHS says it is ok although says some women wait until after the first 12 weeks

Hmm thank you both, I'm seeing my midwife for the first time on Thursday so will probably ask her then. Seems like the best idea to wait really and yeah I'm using a different colour brand anyway so will need a skin patch test no matter what.

I have dyed my hair during two pregnancies with no probs. my hair grows really quickly when I'm pregnant so v bad grey roots!
I do sometimes find it feels a bit more tingly on my scalp as my skin tends to be a bit more sensitive, but hasn't caused any problems to me or babies as far as I know.
