Hi everyone!! I Got my BFP on sat! (yay!)! So newbie to 'pregnancy' section :-)

I've been doing OPK's so know when i ovulated and when i fell pg but the dates thing is confusing me!

So start of last period was 9th November, and i ovulated on 2nd december so technically only been pregnant 2 weeks but they measure it from first day of last period... Adding 3 weeks (i have long periods) meaning I'm 5 weeks pregnant... So does this mean im due mid aug (in tune with last period) of sept (in tune with ovulation and conception)???

How pregnant am i?? Sorry if this sounds silly!

Looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing the next 7/8/9?!? Months here!! :-) :-) x x

I don't know how long cycles work, only how 28 day cycles. With 28 days you add 2 weeks onto it. So makes a lady 4wk pregnant from when period is due. If you go on the neg and find a due date calculator you can put in your cycle information and it should give you an accurate kind of date. I'd prob put you at 4weeks if you are 2 weeks cause in theory the dating scan changes normally by a few days either side of due date by lmp depending on what date you concieved so then it works out as conception date plus 2 weeks iyswim x

Just looked on net for you, yes you add 2 weeks onto conception date, so if you ovulated around the 2nd add 2weeks onto that, it gives you a rough date of 25th of august. I think the lmp dates are usually only around correct if its a 28 day cycle cause your supposed to ovulate bang in the middle of that. Congratulations :)

I have long cycles and with each of my pregnancies the midwife initially calculated my due date by my lmp and then at the first scan my dates were moved back by about 10 days. I think Beckie is right, if you add two weeks to your date of conception it should work out about right.

Thank you all for your help!!! I never realized counting 40 weeks might be so complicated! Intererstig date, nearly on the cusp of the school year!! :-) x x

I just got my BFP yesterday Grin, and am just as confused as to lovebeingamrs, can't work out if it will be late Aug or early Sep..

beckie90 · 18/12/2012 11:07

What length is your cycle tigger and when was your lmp x

tiggerishtom · 18/12/2012 13:38

My last cycle was 33 days, but I am not sure what an imp is Hmm? Sorry quite new here! Blush

Flisspaps · 18/12/2012 13:40

LMP is Last Menstrual Period (not an imp Grin)

I'm in the same boat. Conception was 17th November, lmp was 28th October and cycles are 34 days on average! I'm somewhere between 5&7 weeks I think!

The same thing happened to me. Long, irregular cycles so I had no idea of due date either. When I saw the GP he sent me for a blood test to measure HCG levels and they have predicted a date based on that, so it should be quite accurate. I hoped thought they would send me for an early scan to date it, but they don't seem to do that here. Same thing happened when I was pregnant with DD.
