On steroids during pregnancy = big baby?

I'm astmatic and have to take steroids regularly. DC1 was quite a chunk at birth, 8.3 lbs. A friend of mine was given steroids at 35 weeks (if i remember correctly) because her baby showed signs of wanting to come out and that's a way of making sure baby's lungs are mature.
Anyway, at the 35 week scan her baby was quite small and when he was born 4 weeks later he had more than doubled his weight. She puts it down to the steroids. This of course is only anecdotal evidence, but has anyone else experienced this? Just wondering because i'm pregnant with DC2.

They are totally different steroids, your asthma steroids will have no effect on the baby. Your friend would have been given ones designed to mature her babies lungs and help it bulk up. Steroids are a group of medicines and they all do different things, so don't worry.
