I have been looking at the A3 pramette from Mamas and Papas. You have to buy the car seat separately- Primio V...ggio( can't remember exact name!!!) it has a base which you put seat belt round and then seat clicks into place. Do you think these types of seats are safe???

the safest deat is the britax cosy tot isofix.

Personally I wouldn't use one with a base unless it was Isofix. Apparently there have been accidents in US where the seat detached from base so it can give a false sense of security. Best ones atm are Britax Cost Tot and the Maxi Cosi Cabrio - both available in either isofix and seat belt retained fixings. Neither compatible with the M and P range though, but if you have a pramette would you really use it on the chassis ?

The Primo Viaggio got 51% in the June 2005 Which? survey ranking it 13th of those tested - mostly let down by its side impact protection. Think a new version (Primo Viaggio SIP) is meant to improve on this.
The Britax Cosy Tot got 72% for the Isofix version and 70% for the non-Isofix.
I think seats with bases are safe so long as they are installed and used properly but probably aren't as easy to install and use as Isofix ones.

as lizs says, how often would you really want to clip it on the Pramette chassis anyway? It's better for tinies to lie flat so you may as well use the Pramette as a pram while you can.
