Baby's heartbeat - boy or girl

Hello,
I'm 34+5 and had my midwife appt today, when listening to the heartbeat she said she thinks it must be a boy as its on the lower side (117-125)
I've never heard of this before, is there any truth that boys have lower heartbeats than girls?

No it's a bit of a myth I'm afraid. I'm actually surprised a midwife said it lol.

They say it all the time round here and were right on my dd - scan confirms they're right about ds too but I'll wait and check his bits when he comes out... Wink

I was quite surprised too when she said it as obviously we didn't find out for a reason Smile now I'm kind of convinced its a boy x

My midwife told me my twins were definitely different genders, based on their different heartbeats.

They are both boys Smile

From hearbeats both my DS's were said to be boys by midwives, less than 140bpm I think. In scan dc3 is said to be a girl and heartbeat is varied high sometimes and low sometimes so we will see!

All the google 'research' says this is a myth!

My very experienced (25 years) cOmmunity midwife told me that based on heartbeat she was certain this one is a girl. 5 scans later and he is most definitely a he!!! Definitely evidence of a willy on all of the scans I've had since!

Total myth. Both my boys had 'girl' heartbeats.
