Fainting.....do I need to tell anyone?

I'm 26+1 and this morning I fainted on the way in to work on the train. I've had low blood pressure (for me) all through this pregnancy and felt a bit woozy before now when standing up but this is the first time I've actually fainted. Even weirder - I was sitting down at the time, not even standing up. So...I'm in work now and feeling now too bad, just a little bit dizzy still. My question is, do I need to tell the doctor/midwife about this, or are they just going to tell me it's normal for pregnancy? I don't even have a direct contact number for my midwife, just the 'triage' number to call if I think I need to go into hospital (waters breaking etc). This doesn't feel serious enough to call them. Will I do myself/baby any harm by not getting checked out?

It probably is just low blood pressure, but yes, you should inform the midwife and ask her advice. At the very least, it sounds like you need a day in bed. Hope you get home ok. Can anyone give you a lift?

Thanks Lady. Work are offering to call me a cab to get home but I'm a bit embarrassed by it all to be honest. I work in a 'clinical' setting so they checked my blood pressure for me, but although it's still low for me, it's within normal ranges iyswim? Any idea how to get hold of the midwife? Should I just call the 'triage' number on my notes?

If that's the number on your notes, then yes, call it. And don't feel embarrassed Xmas Smile

Is your midwife based at your gp surgery? If so ring them, or ring them anyway and speak to the doctor x

No, the midwife is at a separate clinic to my GP. Think I might just call my GP and see if I can get an appointment later today (v small chance of that) or else speak to the doctor on the phone. Thanks all
