Does bump always drop?

I was in a cafe today and a lady said my bump was still high, which it is considering baby is engaged and I'm due Christmas Eve.

I was wondering, does this mean labour isn't imminent any time soon? Does everyone's bumps drop?

I currently expecting DC4 and my bump never dropped on my other three! So I'm guessing my answer is no. The latest I've gone over is 4 days with my first - other two were 2/3 days early - and labours haven't been longer than 8 hours with any of them. I just think some of them engage properly in labour sometimes (or all the time with me!).

People just like making conversation - just ignore them. I've been told I'm carrying very low since I first started showing, but I'm just tall so there's a lot of space and the baby has been in a perfectly normal place all along. Doesn't mean anything.

My bump never dropped with DS. It has slightly dropped this time around, baby is currently 3/5 engaged at 38 weeks.

Mine never dropped. I had a scan on the Wednesday, and he wasn't engaged at all. He arrived on the Sunday!

I felt him drop when I went into labour. My waters broke around 2am, and gushed out everywhere for about an hour. Then they suddenly stopped, and I got a feeling like I was carrying a football inbetween my legs. He'd dropped all the way and was blocking any more water coming out. I went back to bed after that!!

Thank you for replies Xmas Smile

I can feel him resting on my cervix and when I walk can feel his head. Apparently I'm 3/5 engaged and 38+4 today Bunty so we're quite similar!

Fingers crossed we both pop a bit early, Mmmnoodle! I would quite like her here for Christmas; thinking next Thursday would be a good day! Xmas Wink
