Hi was just wondering about peoples experience with miscarriage, how long were you in pain and how you have coped. I found out I was pregnant and booked in to see the midwife, but before my app. I started to get really bad abdominal pain so I atteded a&e. They ended up doing weekly scans to check the baby as the pain continued, unfortunately after 7 weeks of scans the doctor said the baby had stopped growing. I got booked into the hospital the following day for medical management.I attended the hospital and they explained the procedure and gave me the first tablet and sent me home. I ended up in agony all night and the painkillers they gave me had no effect so I went back the hospital the next day, the doctor examined me and sed that they would give me stronger pain relief and stronger tablets to help me pass everything out. I was up all night in agony and was absoloutly disgusted with the staff as they kept sayin I shudnt of been in so much pain coz I has passed it out. The doc ended up coming round next day and arranged a scan to make sure there was nothing left. The scan showed that there was actually still a lot left and that was what was causing the pain so I was then told I had to have an erpc. After I'd had the procedure the nurse told me I had an infection so I had to take anti-biotics. Next day the doctor came round again I explained I was still in a lot of pain so she perscribed some stronger pain relief. Then again the next day she came round again, I was still in agony and explained this, she said to me that I couldn't stay another night in hospital for such a small procedure and that the pain was nothing to do with the miscarraige so there was nothing they could do so I needed to attend the gp when I got home. It was like they were trying to say I was lying about the pain. I don't understand how they could say the pain was being caused by something else when the pain only started after I took the tablets they gave me, it hadn't changed anyway except for sometimes being more severe. I have been home for 3 days now and the pain hasn't gone I just don't know what to do, I have tried making a doctors app. But there is none available and I don't want to go back the hospital with the way they have made me feel. Has anyone else had an experience similar to this, just want to know what the pain could be. Sorry for the post being so long.x

I'm so sorry for your loss. The sadness is bad enough without the pain. You do need to be seen. You might still have some bits left behind which will not help if you've already had an infection. I'm not sure about others but I had no pain after my erpc. Some options are an emergency appointment with your GP, or with OOH. Or a&e at the same or another hospital. Does your hospital or another locally have a 24hr maternity triage unit? They are the best people for these things, though you will have to deal with pregnant women being there at the same time. Good luck.
