vaccinations??

does anyone know if any of the 2012/2013 baby or flu vaccinations stil contain even a low level of mercury?? i've been reading all kind of 'facts'...what do people think about the use of vaccinations in newborns? is it really safe at such a young age?

I think you have to weigh up the risk between the vaccinations, and the diseases they are vaccinating against.

Just be careful where you're reading from, because there are plenty of scare tactics at use out there.

All the vaccinations given in this country have been thoroughly researched and tested - otherwise they would not be offered. This is evidence based medicine. Don't worry about vaccinations being safe for newborns - they are much safer than the risk of the diseases they are vaccinating against. I agree with the post above - do not listen to scare tactics.
Why not talk to your Doctor / health visitor?

I don't know if the flu vaccinations still contain mercury but do know mercury has been removed from the whooping cough vaccines, my sister has epilepsy so checked with her DCs.
I agree with the above posts there are a lot of unhelpful 'articles' that have ulterior motives and will scare you. Find out the facts and speak to your doctor, they really are careful about vaccines and children the risks as far as I can see do not outweigh the diseases.
I am a bit overcautious with vaccines I get them to check my DS thoroughly, temp etc and any slight concerns I postponed them till he was better - even though was just a slight temperature from teething he would have been fine but the nurses support your decision and knew I was just doing it for the best and had every intention of getting him vaccinated.

There are a number of brands in use this winter for flu and some say they have traces of thiomersal, but not all. Most are cultivated using eggs so this is more of an issue for those allergic to egg, but that's all. In all honesty, speaking as a HCP, I have never come across any issue directly in over 10 years in work, and there really aren't any quality studies proving any connection between vaccines and various conditions developing. All the scaremongering was just that and was disproven, and the perpetrators struck off. It's very easy to forget what truly awful illnesses things such as measles, etc, are. I had all the recommended vaccines when pg with Dd, she is now 3 and has had all the recommended vaccines, and I have already had my flu vaccine for this pg and will happily have any others that are advised. Talk to your Gp, midwife, hv, if it puts your mind at rest, but really they will tell you to have them. That's certainly my opinion as a precessional and as a mum x
