Pregabalin while pregnant

Hi
I am currently taking pregablin 200mg and citalpram 20mg daily. My husband and I really want a baby, but I suffer with anxiety and dont thing I can come off of them, has anyone be in a situation like this?

Hey Stephanieg1983, I have suffered with anxiety and depression most of my life and am currently taking 300mg of Venlafaxine a day and i'm 32 weeks pregnant. If you or your doctor think that coming off your medication is a bad idea and that staying on it is the best for your health then they will let you stay on it and just monitor you. All my doctors etc agree that me being on my medication is the best thing for me and my baby, if I came off them I would be a wreck. I know for a fact that Citalopram is classed as a 'safe' anti-depressant in pregnancy so I really wouldn't worry about that and I would just have a check with your doctor about the pregablin. Please don't let your medication or anxiety put you off having a baby, like I said i've suffered for years and i'm doing it

Thank you so much for your reply, I know how frowned upon it is for taking medication while pregnant but I really don't think I could do it without, and even changing my medication scares me as iv been feeling ok for the last few months. I work for a doctors but I'm trying avoid talking to them at the moment, as then they know they will have to pay maternity leave and I think that will make them funny.. So I though it I could find people in the same boat and see what they thought it would give my the back bone I need to speak to them..

Alot of people do still frown upon it but it is becoming more and more accepted and I think you would be surprised how many women are going through pregnancy on anti-depressants etc Lots of mums on mums net are, I think there are a fair few threads on the subject so it's worth having a look. If you are feeling ok on them then that is all that matters, you will need to be stable to get through pregnancy and birth. I've found pregnancy hard emotionally even with my medication, there's no way I would be able to have done it without. I will say one thing...avoid google as there are alot of inaccurate horror stories out there, go straight to your doctor or others who are going through the same to get the real facts. I scared myself so much by looking up stuff on google with regards to my meds and pregnancy and it turns out that it was all exaggerated and all thats going to happen is that I will have to stay in hospital for a few more days after giving birth.
