Found out we were expecting #2 on Saturday, my guess is I'm 4/5 weeks...docs appointment is a week away on Monday.

Anyone else nervous but excited and under 12 weeks?

I'm already 12+5 but have just told my best friend. The family will be told over Christmas and work probably not before January.

I'm almost 6 weeks and also dreading all of the Christmas events coming up. I don't know how I'm going to get away with not drinking and not arouse any suspicion.
So far we have only told our parents and my best friend.

I'm 7 weeks with DC2 tomorrow - not told any family yet, we'll wait until we see them all in person at Christmas.
Told two of my very close NCT friends - both of which also told us really early when they fell pg with their #2s.

And this week I told my H&S officer at work, in confidence - I work in a science lab and need to have the risk assessment done. Also one colleague who works very closely with me, so that I have an ally in the lab for the things that I can't do anymore. Not telling anyone else, even my line manager, until the first scan, which will be mid-January.

There was a really good thread on here about how to disguise not-drinking at parties, def worth looking at!

I have literally just found out that I am pregnant! The test says 1-2 weeks so I am guessing that I am 3-4. I won't be telling colleagues and friends until after the 12 week point if possible.

I am in absolute shock right now!! Can't wait until the scan!!

I'm about 7 weeks, but the 12 week dating scan will give a bit more certainty. Only DH knows, and I also blurted it out to SiL last week but she is sworn to absolute secrecy. Have managed to get away with not drinking by being designated driver, although it is hard work, especially with being super tired, and having much enhanced boobs!

Hoping to wait til after that scan before telling anyone, provided it is good news. Thank goodness for mumsnet and havnig somewhere to share worried/symptoms/excitement in the absence of RL confidants Xmas Grin

im 10+1 and so far only told my mum, brother, grandparents and best friend. Not even told DCs yet. Not planning on telling anyone else until after results of scan in New Year. Had a MC before and it was hard enough un-telling close family, let alone the whole world. Dont feel particularly pg, so cannot allow myself to get excited at all yet. Luckily i have two v small DCs so have no social life to speak of so I dont have to hide not drinking when out!!!

Congratulations to all!

I'm 4-5 weeks, and haven't told anyone. Had a mc in July, and agree about it being hard untelling people so am keeping schtum this time (though I only told a few people last time). I might tell a close friend in January.

I'm also nervous about Christmas, mainly feeling ill with my family around (hoping that I do get symptoms) as I'm bound to be really narky!

How do you all manage to hide it until the 20wk scan??! My bump was sooo obvious from around 13wks with #1 (and earlier with #2), there was no way I could hide it!!

Plus I feel horrendous during first tri, which is really really hard to hide (particularly the fainting parts..). With #1 I thought I was doing so well hiding it until I told my boss at 14wks. His response was "We all know. But congratulations ;)".

Congratulations to all!

Only 2 friends at work know. But not my manager yet, I will wait until 12 week scan.

I had a pregnancy test in my handbag and one of my friends asked if I was pregnant, I said I didn't think so but had got a test in my bag as my period had been late.

She wanted me to do it then but true to form I didn't need the loo. All of the sudden I had 3 glasses of water on my desk and then went and did the test. I had one of the ones where you need to see the cross and it doesn't matter how faint the line is (rather than digital).

So was walking back to my desk and asked what the verdict was to which I honestly answered I wasn't sure as the test wasn't clear. I guess I was having a little bit of denial, so was rushed to a meeting room and she confirmed I was pregnant.

Apparently she already knew I was pregnant because she had a dream about me and fishes! (if that makes sense to anyone)

I can't wait to tell everyone.

maximus I believe most people are talking about 12 week scan, not 20. But I'm almost 13, have no bump and feel totally fine, no fainting or nausea. Even my assistant, who sits opposite to me the whole day and is mother of 3, had no idea (told her today).

I'm 10+3 and so far have told DH, my best friend, my parents and ILs and my boss. And about 3 different doctors, not that it's done me any good in getting me a scan or anything. Getting quite nervous now that I won't get my nuchal in time. I will probably wait til after results from blood/ nuchal are back just to be on the safe side.

With DD, we didn't tell a soul until 16 wks (and MIL not until 38 wks, but that's another story...).
This time I'd love to hold off for a similar amount of time, but I suspect I might get a similar response to the one you got, maximus, I'm showing so much earlier (12+6). I am also a bit scared of sharing my news at work as I have a couple of lovely colleagues who are desperately TTC with no success, whereas I am now on #2, and I really feel for them. I think I'm just hoping that by the time I tell, they'll all have guessed.
I was rumbled by an acquaintance at a Christmas party the other night, and had to kind of smother her grinning "gotcha"-face in a big wrestly "hug" before she could make an announcement on my behalf, and make her promise not to say anything. In my experience, once the cat is out of the bag, your pregnancy becomes public property in a way, and a free-for-all to quiz you, paw you, predict the sex of your baby and give you well-meaning advice and I for one found all that a bit overwhelming the first time around. I quite enjoy this bit of secrecy, it'll be over soon enough.

I am 5 weeks with DC2 and next week will have a 6 week scan. They do that here when you have been referred to the fertility doc. All being well I fly home to the UK for Christmas the day after and will be telling my family but no one else. I had a prearranged party here last weekend and poured 4 glasses of wine down the sink. I think I got away with it! My family all know we have been trying for ages so they will be pleased but worried for us (we are anxious too). Waiting for the 12 week scan to tell everyone else :)

Hello and congratualtions everyone :)

I'm 5 weeks with my 2nd, and so far only DP and my doctor know. I have had occasional boob tingliness, but that's all. I'd really love a symptom or two!

I had a MC in June and we hadn't told anyone as we were waiting for the 12 week scan, so there was no one to un-tell. But now I'm wondering if that was the best course of action, as I am a bit nervous about this pregnancy, but I can't explain to family without telling them there was a MC they didn't know about.

I'm still not sure when we'll start telling people, maybe around 8 weeks. If we tell MIL we may as well just put it in the paper, she couldn't help herself, she'd tell everyone.

Am toying with the idea of telling SIL and MIL, but telling both of them they're the only one that knows, and not to say anything. Wonder who will crack first? Hee hee!

Come join us on the due in august antenatal thread!

I'm about 5 weeks at the moment, DH and Dr knew until today when we told both sets of parents (I can't keep a secret from DM)

Congratulations to everyone Xmas Smile

I found out I'm expecting DC4 (fourth and last) yesterday.

I reckon I'm also about 4/5 weeks.

We won't tell family or friends until I'm 12 weeks.

When we tell family, that's the same as telling work, as I work for the family business.

Two birds, one stone. Xmas Grin

It shouldn't stand out too much at Christmas, as I have never been a big drinker, so no-one thinks anything if I don't have alcohol.

I need a bit of advice im 6 weeks with 2nd pregnancy, first one ended up in a mmc at 5 weeks. the job i did then involved lifting heavy things including people and being on my feet for 12 hrs a day. And to be honest, they couldn't have cared less, even after nearly getting punched and having to drag someone to the ground.

I am in a slightly better situation now still doing 12 hours but im driving, i do have to move massive gates and carry heavy cases full of keys.

I have refused to work at night without saying why, because i have to work in pretty unsafe places and have to deal with break ins of the properties.

When should i say something?? i dont want to jinx it.

yellow I would say something now tbh.

So sorry to hear of your previous mmc.

When I had my first child I didn't say anything until I was twelve weeks as I was working and wanted to be as sure as I could be that everything was going to be ok. With my second baby I told my mother as soon as it was confirmed by the doctor, in those days it was at about seven weeks, and with my third baby I told my mother at five weeks when I had a positive test result done by Life.

Last night my second son called me to say that he and his partner are expecting in July - my second grandchild, as my daughter has already given me a brilliant grandson. They are only nine weeks pregnant - they've kept the secret since five weeks. I am so excited and happy - and it makes 2013 a good year before it even begins. Good luck to all you Mums and Dads having 2013 births!

When we had number one we found out ourselves just a few days before xmas in 2009 and we told everyone on xmas day. I had a mmc in July this year though at 10.5 weeks and we had told most people because i'd had an early scan at 7.5 weeks and everything was fine, plus I was really really ill so I'd needed some time off work and everyone I worked with knew as well as family and friends, so it was really tough having to let everyone know what had happened.

So this year I don't know what to do! I'm about 5+5 now, starting to feel very queasy, seeing GP on 20th Dec and booking in and scan with midwife at the end of Jan around 11 weeks. No idea when to tell people!! Christmas? Sooner? New years? If I get as sick as I've been the last two times it will be very hard to keep the cat in the bag!!

Just found out an hour or so ago that we're expecting #2. I'm lurching between excitement, relief that it's happened again, trepidation that it probably is going to happen again and disappointment that I won't be able to knock back the £200 worth of Xmas booze that we got in last week!

According to lmp, I'm 4/5 weeks. Already my jeans are too tight!

PatButchersEarring - congrats! I remember when I found out in 2009 it was 23rd December and the idea that I might be pg (cos I wasn't ttc) just kind of crept up on me and I knew I had an old test in the bathroom - meanwhile DH was out at Tesco buying OUR christmas booze!! Oh well, it'll do for the christening party Wink

yellow - good luck with your managers
