Almost 39 weeks. Extreme pain in bum on one side today. By end of day I could barely walk. After putting dd to bed could only get down the stairs on my bum. Paracetamol has done nothing. Am planning bath an hot water bottle but really any advice welcome. Am meant to go Christmas shopping with dd and dh tomorrow but only way I think it would be possible if I feel how I do today is if the shopping centre has an electric wheelchair I can use.

On plus side the baby has definitely moved overnight and gone down. I can breathe more easily and I don't feel like I constantly need a poo any more.

But the pain...

Sounds like sciatica to me. Bath and hot water bottle, plus resting it, is the way forward.

You think sciatica not pelvic girdle pain?

If the baby has moved and dropped down then very possible you have pressure on the sciatic nerve, very common for it to be just on one side. Unfortunately paracetamol doesn't really work for nerve pain.

You are also probably getting ready for labour so are starting to produce relaxin so joints and pelvis are more unstable. ( I'm not suggesting imminent labour, just your body starting to prepare so another hormone change to get everything limbered up).

As Toby says relax in warm water, and rest is really your only option, so you either have to trust dh to xmas shop or go online.

Trust dh with the shopping?! Hahahahahaha.

Actually he has to take dd to get me something and I intended to browse for fun as done all mine weeks ago [smug face]. So I could go with and just sit somehere though if like today I wouldn't be able to get to sitting area from car.
