So assuming the need a poo feeling isn't the beginning of labour, any suggestions for how I can make my body go to the loo for some relief, ideally using things I am likely to have in house as am home tonight. Have had orange juice and raisins.

Little you have in the house is likely to make you go tonight (unless you keep a stash of suppositories).

In general all fruit, especially prunes/juice are good. My midwife recommended this cake: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1980639/all-bran-loaf-cake
I haven't tried it yet, but it looks easy enough and she swore it would get anything moving Blush

When I need to go I drink lots of water and smoothies (like the juice but I think the extra fibre helps).

Been told doing squats helps too but you might not feel like that!

Agree on the prunes too. Good luck, we've all been there Blush

weetabix Blush

  • Tomatoes
  • Prunes
  • Raisins
  • Cranberry Juice / Prune Juice
  • Smoothies esp berry based smoothies
  • Squatting is good but as you are heavily pregnant getting yourself on all fours for a bit might help get something moving.

Relaxing 30 minutes in a nice warm bath sipping a hot drink

Andromaca, that sounds like a plan. May even make that drink a glass of wine!

dried apricots, plums, apple juice all help me. Weetabix can sometimes have the opposite effect as the fibre in that can absorb water inside you and expand.

Coffee always makes me go. Water water water plus fruit and veg makes the 'going' easier.
I sympathise!

Well as I am sure you are in edge of seats for update... Had long hot bath then spent the night farting! Think it was trapped wind!!! Feel so much better and no longer thinking I'm in early labour Grin
