Hi, I went to my GP yesterday to inform them I have just found out I'm pregnant. However I have no idea how far I am at all! I've always had very irregular periods and my last one was well over a year ago. I told the GP this and she said she will just make something up to get me referred and wrote down I was 4 weeks. She then informed me I will properly not be seen for about 6/7 week's as the midwife doesn't need to see me in early pregnancy as this is my second. That's all well and good but I could be alot further that that. Is this right what she has done and if not what can I do about it?

hi. first off all - congratulations! when I had my first I wasn't sure how far along I was so the midwife referred me for a dating scan. call your surgery to make sure they arrange this for you. it's important that they find out your dates so they can do the nuchal scan at the right time - between 12-14 weeks. you still might need to wait a few weeks for the dating scan. obviously procedure may differ depending on area though Smile

Thankyou I'm just a little worried as I could be alot further than 4 weeks and I just want to know! I remember with my first I was referred straight away for a dating scan and was 14 weeks, and I just have this dreaded feeling I could be at least 10 weeks but I really dont want to wait 7 weeks to find out!

Justalilmummy - if you're really concerned, you could book yourself in for a private dating scan - cost around £100 in London but seem to be cheaper outside.
