Hi

Been for a check up today 34+1 and got told I was measuring big so went for a scan of which I've been told I've got excess fluid- something about being 23....Anyway she said something about my GTT which came back negative so that was nothing to worry about- so just then sent me on my way....

All the consultant has said is if my waters break to go straight in as the cord may come out as there will be alot of it- shouldn't be too much of a problem as have C section booked at 39 weeks

Incidently blood pressure was slightly raised but have been to DR's also this morning with the startings of a chest or viral infection where I've got to wait 24 hours to see if gets worse before starting antibiotics

Any thoughts- everyone on here always not to google so I thought I'd ask

Thanks

Im the same, im not worrying at all though. My midwife also said the same about the cord dropping below the babies head but really i think she was just warning me not saying it will happen.

Excess fluid can be a sign of gestational diabetes but as your GTT was fine you're ok. Also 23 is only slightly raised and some women do just carry more fluid than others. All the figures we use for monitoring are guidelines and being a little above or below the parameters doesn't always mean there is a problem, it just helps us consider futher tests if needed. Don't worry (easier said than done!) and hope your chest infection clears up!
