My dd was born at 37+5 with no warning at all, just sat at home one day when my waters suddenly went and she was born 9 hours later after a very straight forward labour.
I'm now 35+4 with my 2nd, a boy this time. Really just wondering what the chances are of him coming before his due date? If your 1st baby is early is it more likely that your 2nd will be too? Also is your 2nd labour always quicker than your 1st?

I'll be watching this carefully! Smile DD was born over a week early, 15hr labour and I'm now 34wks with ds. Will be interesting to hear ladies stories of their 2nd labours!

Can only speak from personal experience, but DS1 (2 days late) was 12 hour labour while DS2 (4 days early) was 3 hour labour ... and unplanned home birth.

First was 38+1 and the second was 40+1

Second labour was quicker and easier.

First was 36+6, lovely straight forward labour.

Second 38+5, waters broke but no labour so I was induced then had super speedy, back-to-back delivery. It was hell.

But honestly, I dont think its a pattern. I think it's different for everyone.

First was 40+2, 4 hour labour
Second was 41+5 Shock and took 2 sweeps to get things moving. Really easy 2 1/2 hour labour, nowhere near as painful as my first Smile

I think on average, second labours tend to be quicker. Not sure about length of pregnancy though.

Dd, my second, was a week earlier and much faster.

Thanks for all your replies, clearly there are no patterns as to when 2nd babies arrive! I was hoping I would have some idea of when to expect him to arrive, what with Xmas and still not decorated the nursery I suppose I best start getting a bit more organised just in case he does come early! Wink
Def looking forward to a shorter labour 2nd time round though! X
