Headache and flashing lights - surely too early for preeclampsia?

I'm nearly 17 weeks and have a cracking headache with funny flashes of lightening in my peripheral vision. With DC1 I had preeclampsia but not before 36 weeks.

I can't even call the day assessment unit as you have to be 20 weeks.

I assume this is too early for pre-eclampsia and this is just some random pregnancy headache (I never get headaches). Should I try and see someone just in case?

Technically PET is not until after 24 weeks but those symptoms still need investigating - please speak to MW or GP.

Definitely see someone, they will check your blood pressure etc and make sure you are ok.

Thanks. Do you think I should call the early pregnancy unit or the GP?

Call EPU and they can direct you accordingly. Hope you feel better soon

I had this yesterday, like pressure behind my eyes and it felt like someone was hammering the back of my head while someone else was pushing needles into the side, made me throw up and feel dizzy went and made an emergency app at my GP. She's such a heartless cow she sent me away with amoxicillin.

Sounds like migraine but you should get it checked.

Hmmm, there is no EPU number on my notes. The GP is full already. I could try day assessment but my notes clearly state not to use them before 20 weeks.

I would call your midwife. I'm 14+weeks and my bp has gone up high so on bp tablets and am hoping the headaches will ease a little now :) seeing GP in an hour to check bp, I've had preeclampsia with all my dc :( def go and get checked out :) x

Thanks for all the advice this morning. I saw the GP, my BP is fine and I only have a trace of protein in my urine. I do however have a raging UTI (with no obvious symptoms) so maybe that was behind the headache.
