bleeding at 11 weeks - do I need to get it checked?

I noticed a teeny tiny bit of blood a few days ago, and have had a little bit of spotting over the last couple of days, mostly brownish. All the advice online says contact your GP if you have any bleeding - but I'd rather wait. If it gets heavier or if I got any cramps they I would, but I really don't want to have to lie about why I want yet more time off work and have to spend half a day hanging round the hospital waiting for a scan, when I've got the 12 week scan next week anyway. Waiting can't do any harm can it? I mean if I'm going to miscarry I will anyway. Aargh. I so hope I'm not.

you don't need to get checked out and could wait for your 12 week scan. This happened to me though and I was offered a scan about 5 days before my 12 week scan. Turned out to be a MMC and I am glad I didn't find out in the ante natal unit. Good luck and hope all is well

I'd get checked out. Blood could be a sign of an ectopic, so I'd want to know sooner rather than later.

Do you have any cramping?

Its probably fine, old implantation blood but I'd call the midwife to be sure.

I had an early scan at 7 weeks but had cramping and brown blood with a teeny Bit of red. They were trying to rule out an ectopic which is very serious if it is the case.

So the conclusion to my rambling is I'd call the midwife to be sure

I just called my MW as I've got spotting and she was totally unconcerned. I've got a scan in a couple of days anyway so she was happy for me to wait for that. (Not least because that is a private one I've booked in desperation because she wasn't answering my calls for a week so I guess it saves the NHS money that I'm sorting myself out - grr!)

Hmm, thanks for the advice. Too late to call the hospital now I think - I'll have to do it in the morning.

I think no cramps is a good sign but I always go on the side of caution and would call midwife tomorrow. Maybe if it gets worse or you get cramping call out of hours?

They are completely used to dealing with queries and would rather you asked than didn't. Here's hoping for good news for you

I had a little bit of bleeding and called the doctor but as there were no other symptoms he said not to worry about it. He just said that I should call again if I got cramps or heavier bleeding.

Please go and get a scan hun, I was 12+1 and had the tiniest bit of spotting, I hadn't even had my letter for my 12 week scan yet so I went to a&e and like Funnys it revealed I had had a mmc, I had no reason to think this had happened, no cramps, nothing..still looked and felt very pregnant! It would have been so much worse to find out at the real 12 week scan. I'm not saying this will happen to you it will all be fine! But just incase, put your mind at rest. All the best x
