Miscarriage at 7 weeks or normal bleeding?

I am 7 weeks pregnant and since last night I have been spotting. It started at pink discharge but now is darker, more blood like, it is however still just spotting, no significant blood loss... I also have slight lower abdominal ache (like mild period pains) and the thing I am really worried about is not nearly so tired as the last few weeks.

Can anyone offer any advice? I feel sure it is a miscarriage, because of everything together but just not sure what to do. It is my first pregnancy so new to this and a bit scared.

Hello, I don't want to read and run, I would go to the urgent care centre and they will assess you and retest you for pregnancy. I hope it is okay, I bled throughout my pregnancy and was admitted a few times so I know how scary it can be. My little boy is coming up for a year old now.

Hi mighty I just wanted to add that I am 9ish weeks and on the due in July thread here and lots and lots of people on that thread have had bleeding and gone on to be fine. Depending on where you are you could call the Early Pregnancy Unit in your area and ask to refer yourself, or go to your GP and ask for a referral for a scan. Good luck. I know how hard it is to wait.

Hi - sorry you're going through this. As said by others, bleeding can be harmless or be a prelude to miscarriage and there's no way to tell in the early stages unfortunately. I can relate to not being sure what to do - I started bleeding early in my first pregnancy while away from home and had no idea what normal procedure was. I called NHS24 who were brilliant and gave me the address of a 24-hour clinic near me, who then referred me on to the local EPU within an hour. I unfortunately went on to miscarry, but it was a relief to know what to expect and what to do / who to call if anything unexpected happened.

I hope you're able to get seen quickly to put your mind at ease and that you're one of the many, many women wit's unexplained early bleeding who go on to have happy, healthy pregnancies.

Thanks all for the advice.

Turns our my EPU unit opens at 9 tomorrow rather than being ant 24hr care, so I'll get an appt then. It's not got any worse so I still have fingers crossed even if I do really fear the worst is happening.

How are you today, mighty?

Not so good, I had a scan yesterday and it didn't look right so afraid the verdict was miscarriage. Sad times but at least I know.

Thanks for your advice, better to find up quickly and move on so we can try again.
