Body changes in very early pregnancy

Hello there,

I'm five weeks pg with our first DC. Call me sad or what, but as I'm fascinated about how my body is going to change over the next eight months, I've started measuring my weight, hips, waist and boobs ever Saturday morning!

Today was the third set of measurements, and I'm surprised to see that over the last fornight I've lost 3cm on my waist and gained 3cm on my hips which wasn't what I expected. My weight has been pretty static. (OK, so I've gained just under 2lbs...) Boobs have only gained 1cm. Sad

I know my tape measure experiments won't be entirely accurate, but I'm intrigued to see if this pattern continues in the next few weeks before (presumably!) my waist finally starts to fill out. Anyone else noticed anything like this?

I wish I'd thought to do that! I'm 19 weeks so a bit late.

My observations would ft with what you say. I've not gained weight yet but have noticed the bump growing, muffin top pushed right up but could swear my face looks thinner. Boobs I've gone up a back size and two cup sizes already!

I personally think it is better to focus on your health than measurements, so healthy eating, enough exercise etc. To some extent with pregnancy you need to just accept that your body is not your own for 9 months.

I'm 3rd trimester and if you are anything like me you'll start hitting major bloat soon - so your waist and stomach will distend a lot, very quickly. This goes down again before you get a bump proper, as it due to slower gut transit i.e. is air, fluid etc not baby or fat. The bump starts low, and gradually moves upwards.

Boobs shoot out early days, then stay fairly static until near the end. I gained 3 cup sizes by 12 weeks. I have been warned they'll swell up again soon (now 28 weeks)

As for hips, arms, legs - not much change. My thighs are stronger due to carrying the extra weight, but everything else is as it was. I have gained over a stone, so I assume this is all bump and boobs.

All I noticed was huge, huge stomach in first few weeks as I was horrendously bloated- I looked about 5/6 months! Then it went and then I got a rounder waistline and then it changed again into a neat like round bump shape. I haven't kept measurements as I keep changing all the time and I'm only 15 weeks lol! Plus, I hated my first body changes, I've only started to embrace the changes these last couple of weeks. Terrible I know! Blush

Boobs first, but as I was tiny acorny, even at 9 months I was still in an A cup, but at least filled them out.

I ended up at 9 months 36"X36"X36" - when I had been 32"X22X33" and put 2 stone on. - from 7.9 to 9.9.

ps.
I was feeling too sick early on to think of measuring myself.

Did anyone's boobs not get bigger in pregnancy? Mine always 34c and at 30 weeks are the same size!
