Was just wondering, do you still get these - for free prescriptions etc whilst you are pg and for a year afterwards, or were they done away with by Gov cuts? I seem to remember having to fill in a form when I had my booking appointment with DC1 and 2. But not this time? Has it all changed?

Yes, it's still the same. I got mine a few days ago. My GP gave me the form when I went to register the pregnancy.

Currently pregnant and I was given a form by my midwife to send off. Ask her at your next appointment, you're still entitled to one.

I've got mine. Midwife gave me the form at the booking appointment.

I got mine at my first appt when i was just 5 weeks pg

it is valid for 1 month BEFORE they recieve it until your due date (but if baby is born late you can extend it until 1 year after their actual birthday)

ooh damn. it was the booking appointment so i am not due to see her for another 8 weeks. just have to try and stay healthy in that time i guess. i dont really want to have to bother them. thank you for the quick replies. my booking app was quite quick - maybe because ive had three previously!

You can do it directly with GP - go to surgery, fill out form, they sign it and send it off. Takes a while for the exemption card to come in the post though.

nannyl · 30/11/2012 19:42

mine didnt take long at all.... no more than a week

got the latest one at the beginning of this month

saying that my midwife said i could send it myself OR leave it at surgery and they send them all when they have got lots, so chose to post it (the same day) myself
