Is it more difficult to get a gender scan determination if you have an anterior placenta?

Just curious as I'm sure the sonographer said at my 12 scan that I had an anterior placenta so kicks may take a little longer to feel. I just wondered if that would make it more difficult to determine the sex during the scan we have booked tomorrow?

No.

We went at 16+1 with this pregnancy and the result we were given then has been confirmed at every other scan (and there have been a few!). We were told just as quickly as when we went at 17 weeks with DS, and I had a posterior placenta with him.

Agree with Bunty - makes no difference at all in respect of scans.

No it doesn't make it more difficult if the placenta is anterior. What DOES make it harder to tell the sex is the babies position at the time of the scan and how big mum is. If there is a lot of tummy to get through the picture quality can be quite poor.

I can't stress enough that the gender is never guaranteed whatever the sonographer tells you! I always tell everyone to keep their receipts to be on the safe side! That said, we are normally right, I wouldn't tell people if I wasn't confident :)

I have an anterior placenta and we got a really clear view of the boy bits! Sonographer said he wouldn't say unless he was certain and he was sure it was a boy.

Thank you everyone! Yes the scan is private and with Babybond. They've told us that they won't say unless they're sure and if the baby doesn't 'present' we can go back next weekend.

She also said if I go to my NHS scan at 20 weeks and they tell me the opposite they'll have us back and give us another scan to show us why they believed it to be the other...if that makes sense lol.
