Cervix Sweeps. Did it work?!

Hey!
I had a cervix sweep done at 11pm last night, doctor didn't think it would work but when she did it she said i was 1/3rd effaced and that she could feel his head and that i was already about 1cm dilated. I did have a bit of spotting which had stopped by 3/4am this morning. At 2pm this afternoon i had a big brown show! I'm 40+6 and was given my sweep early for SPD. I was just wondering how long after a sweep you go into labour and what everyones experience of a sweep was like? I'm really intreguied :)

It did for me. I had one with DD, midwife did it mid/late afternoon (can't exactly remember as it was 3.5 years ago) I was probably dilated and effaced to the same extent as you. My waters broke at 5.30am next morning, contractions started to get strong about 1.5 hours later, baby was born at 12.30pm. Good luck! I'm expecting DC2 in 2 weeks and I'll definitely have another one if I need it.
