Anyone lost weight? I'm 19 weeks and if one more person says "you don't even look pregnant..."

What the title says really. I'm eating very healthily and exercising (and running around after 19month DS) and although I wasn't big to begin with - about a 10 top and 12 bottoms - I think I've lost a bit and still in skinny jeans etc.

I'm just a bit concerned as people seem quite shocked when I tell them I'm pregnant. I feel great though.

I was very slim with my second and people didn't realise until I had him
have a third, it's a whole other ball game

OwlLady · 29/11/2012 16:25

I used to feel sensitive when people would say the baby would be very small as if they would knopw Confused and he was weighed 8lb 3 at two weeks early, so wasn't tiny at all

monsterchild · 29/11/2012 16:28

I am 36 weeks and up until about 3 weeks ago, people were telling me I didn't look pregnant! I had put on at least 20 lbs by then, so I guess I just looked like I'd gotten a bit too intimate with the beer and doughnuts!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 29/11/2012 16:37

I'm 19 weeks and I lost 4lb when I had bad morning sickness. I've gained tat back but no more. I was big to start wth (BMI is 30!) so I'm pretty pleased. I have a bump but to be brutally honest the baby is simply pushing up my muffin top! I think it varies for everyone but if you're eating well and exercising I wouldn't worry too much!

kellestar · 29/11/2012 16:48

I didn't realise a friend was expecting again, and that she was further along than me. She didn't show until she'd gone 30 weeks last time, she didn't put any weight on. She is tall and slim but wide, if you know what I mean, so her baby was nestled neatly without much of a bump. She's 34 weeks and just starting to look like she's 12 weeks. Never worn any maternity wear in either pregnancy.

I'm plump already, with DD my wobbly bit went firm and bump like quite early. I lost over a stone last time I was pregnant. This time I've lost about 1/2 that but only half way through. My wobbly bits are firm and bump like now, but still have plenty of wobble left around it.

I think weight gain is so peculiar, my SIL piled it on and went up 3 dress sizes, it took an age for her to loose it too, but she was so ill with sickness I'm surprised she put any weight on at all.

psychomum5 · 29/11/2012 16:49

I was the same. I was so ill with sickness at the beginning of my fifth pregnancy I actually lost a stone.

When I went for my 20 week scan I was the first woman the sonographer had ever seen with a concave tummy.

I definitely looked pregnant by the end Wink

Paradisefound · 29/11/2012 17:23

I lost just over a stone in the first 14 weeks ( hyperemesis) now 20 weeks and exactly the same weight as I was before pregnant. So have put on no additional weight, bump suddenly appeared a couple of weeks ago and now definitely look pregnant. I'm a size 12 and definitely need maternity wear now. Hopefully your anomaly scan will ease your worries.

Mylittlepuds · 30/11/2012 16:11

Oh I'm so glad it's not just me! Perhaps I'll try and eat more cake next time...

I gained weight and then have lost a bit but that is the fat layer that I have a lost a bit of, not the baby weight.

I wouldn't be majorly concerned but if you are worried, talk to your midwife. Some woman show a lot more than others.

YouCanBe · 30/11/2012 17:26

I am huge at 19 weeks. But I have only put on 2kg. It is weird!

rogersmellyonthetelly · 30/11/2012 20:41

29 weeks and still 3lb down on what I was when I found out at 4 weeks.
Morning noon and night nausea have gone but I don't have any appetite to speak of. Baby is growing fine though, and I have a substantial bump, but my jeans are baggy round the legs and bum and I've had to buy bras with a smaller back measurement. I think all my blubber has gravitated to my belly :0)

beckie90 · 30/11/2012 21:08

With my last lil boy I went from a size 8-10 to a size 6 and 7st 6 by the 3rd month of pregnancy I only ended back upto to my pre preg weight when I was 40wks preg, I didn't have Amy sort of bump till about 35weeks even then it just looked like I'd ate a large meal lol, but he was born a more than healthy 9 pound. Big shock lol x

Mylittlepuds · 30/11/2012 21:15

Beckie that's amazing! Totally disproves the 'eating for two' theory.

Rogers you sound like me.

I didn't really look pregnant until around the 30ish week mark. I lost about 10lbs or so by the end of my pregnancy from when I started. I gained it all back and more after I had the baby though... My baby was a couple ounces over 6lbs.

babyradio · 01/12/2012 08:58

I have lost ten pounds so far and I was worried I was doing something wrong..

StrawberriesTasteLikeLipsDo · 01/12/2012 09:08

Im 35 weeks today, and so far have lost 22lbs this pregnancy. I lost 14lb with DS, and am hopeful of loosing another 8-10lb at birth this time. Mine has now been (finally!!) accepted as relating to insulin resisitance, related to PCOS (I was telling the docs this for aggges hence my relief, I will now be able to have treatment post birth).

I have to have regular growth scans, but would of had these anyway as I have gestational diabetes, and the hospital are not concerned as baby is growing. I have a bump when stood up but even now sat down i just look wobbly!! Grin
I would mention it to your midwife but as long as your baby is growing (which would be seen at your 20 week scan) I shouldn't think its cause for concern.

beckie90 · 01/12/2012 10:11

Thankyou little puds upto month 5 I cudnt eat a great amount but after that was fine, but they take all the nutrients they need out of your body anyway probs why i felt so shocking Haha. However ds1 I ate for 2 probably 4 at that gained a lot more weight he was born 2wks over at 6 pound 8, so 2 total opposites :) xxx

LikeCandy · 01/12/2012 18:49

My bump appeared at about 18w, and now at 22w I have a definite preggo belly.
People haven't been noticing that I am pregnant though, there are still people I work with 5 days a week who are only just finding out and haven't guessed at all.
I don't know how much of that is politeness though, I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to comment if a woman I worked with 'looked chunkier than usual'!
beckie90 that's incredible! I know I've put on weight (probably a good 4 or 5kg) but most of that is to appease my DH and family who think I need to be eating for 2 and have been feeding me up!
