Just wanted to find out if anyone has ever suffered with pleurisy while pregnant? I was diagnosed yesterday and am in a huge amount of pain but I can't take anything for the pain other than paracetamol which isn't really doing anything. I've had a chest infection for a couple of weeks which is the reason I've developed the pleurisy. I took a weeks course of antibiotics (amoxicilin) last weeks but still have a terrible cough so the GP prescribed another antibiotic (klaricid) which I've picked up this morning and which he said was safe to take during pregnancy. However, I did a quick google search and saw the term 'birth defects' pop up! The pharmacist advised that you should only take the antibiotic while pregnant if the benefits outweigh the negatives, but I'm not sure they do! Do you think I should call the midwife? Bit confused and can't really think straight because of the pain! Also have a 2 year old to entertain - oh joy!
