I'm nearly 36 wks pg now and yesterday my braxton hicks were a bit more noticeable than they'd ever been and i'd got period pain and backache all day also boobs v. sore. I also noticed clear liquid trickling not loads but with no discharge and it wasn't wee. I felt it come out when i stood occasionally. I thought i'll see how i am today and I've woke up achey my pj bottoms are wet again not lots but quite a bit, i feel very wet down there and generally feel uncomfortable. My waters trickled out with my first but somehow i knew straight away this time im not positive its waters? Baby still moving lots.

Please anyone got any advice?

Bit disgusting, but what I'd do is go sit on the loo and catch some of the liquid. Clear/slightly coloured - waters. Milky white - excess discharge. I have a LOT of discharge just now and often feel damp, but it is milky, and so just a normal increase. I'm 35+5. Hope that helps

ilovegarlicbread · 28/11/2012 08:42

It's defo clear as i've put a pad on and overnight there was no discharge it was just wet. I have been suffering lots of discharge and this is different :/

That sounds like waters to me, can you phone labour ward for advice? They will probably want you to go in to check.

ilovegarlicbread · 28/11/2012 08:50

Yeah i can. I was there 2 weeks ago thou which turned out to be braxtons so i feel daft if it's nothing again (know thats silly).

I'm 38 weeks and have noticed lots of watery discharge, it is normal towards the end of pregnancy - as disgusting as it is have you smelt it? Waters are supposed to smell sweet?

NervousAt20 · 28/11/2012 09:17

When I was 37 weeks some of my waters leaked and I made a thread on here as I wasn't sure what to do, the advice I got was to go and get checked out many of the ladies told me their stories and how just to be safe it was the best thing to do so I went got checked and booked in for a c section ASAP my baby was breech though its best just to be safer. Labour ward won't care if you err there s few weeks ago. Fx all goes well for you

When I was 37w pregnant my waters leaked, I made a thread on here as I wasn't sure and got some great advice and basically told it was really important that I did and some of the ladies told me their stories and how it's best just to be safer then sorry. I went and got checked and they booked me in for a c section straight away, gave me an inj to make sure babies lungs weemre strong and started me on antibiotics, my baby was breech so that's why she had to come then. I don't want to scare you but it's best to be safer then sorry and get checked labour ward won't care that you were there s few weeks ago! Fx it all goes well for you

NervousAt20 · 28/11/2012 09:21

I lost my first post and wrote it again Grin

ilovegarlicbread · 28/11/2012 09:27

Thankyou. My baby is breech too, i had an app. in two wks to try and turn it if it hadn't already. I did have a sniff and it doesn't really have a smell tbh but i remember the same thing happening with DD. Haven't felt movements for a few hrs now and i just feel odd today and have a crampy pain. Think i'll ring.

Definitely ring! Good luck and keep us posted.

ilovegarlicbread · 28/11/2012 10:35

thanks. I've rang and they tried to fob me off at first saying i would know if it was waters and if i wasn't soaking it was prob discharge.
i explained it was a slow trickle with my first and movements hd slowed i go in at 12.

Oh gosh good luck, it sounds like waters to me - I hope all is well x

ilovegarlicbread · 28/11/2012 16:55

just got home. they've said baby is fine good trace, she did a speculum exam and said she doesn't think im leaking waters and my cervix is shut. she says its discharge im not convinced.
im also getting strong braxton hicks every 30mins!

RooneyMara · 28/11/2012 19:43

Oh that's exactly what they've just said to me! Smile Just got back from 3 hour trip.

I'm not entirely convinced either - took them about 5 seconds to say no sign of waters. I mean how can they tell if things are so busy down there?!

Hope you are Ok x

BexGershon · 28/11/2012 22:29

I had this a few days ago, I'm 39+6 and my midwife told me toward the very end if you haven't lost your plug yet this can be it. She said its very watery and clear, I was sure it was my waters but 3 days later I'm here, baby very and very much still pregnant!!
I think towards the end we look for anything that could be sign of the finishing line!!!
Xxxx

hellymelly · 28/11/2012 22:33

it sound like my waters ( my hind waters had gone, whatever that means) but I assume they have ways of checking if its amniotic fluid or not? So maybe not, in your case. Your description is the same as my experience though.

RooneyMara · 29/11/2012 06:28

I do wonder what method they use though...in my case they just looked.

I asked about those nitrazine strips I'd read about (that turn to dark blue if it's amniotic fluid) and they said no, they don't use those any more because of all the false positives.

Which might be fair enough but how do they know?

ilovegarlicbread · 29/11/2012 09:45

How are you today Rooney? The Trickle seems to have slowed a bit for me and braxtons have gone but i feel rough, just drained so so tired and nauseous duvet day for me i think. You do have a point Bex i think any twinge now could be labour. These last few weeks are tough especially being due at xmas Smile.

OP posts:
RooneyMara · 29/11/2012 09:52

Oh you poor thing. I'm knackered after last night but alright.

It sounds like you have been losing a fair bit more than me. I know that dehydration can cause nausea and tiredness and I'd be a bit concerned about that for you - I don't suppose there's any chance of a second opinion?

Have you been given a scan? That's what my (lovely) MW actually did first - refer me to have a scan urgently. Which I did yesterday morning and the fluid was 8.1 so borderline low (5-8 is called oligohydramnios at 34 weeks)

How are you measuring - I was measuring 31 at appt on Tues, as well. That's why she had to refer me, leaking or not.

I think you should ask to have a scan so they can check the levels x

ilovegarlicbread · 29/11/2012 10:00

No they wouldn't scan me i even took my mum instead of DH as i knew she would push as much as poss and they said no! I do have a scan booked in two weeks as baby is still breech! Measured 35 weeks so spot on for what i am. They did do bloods i get the results later i'm wondering if i'm slightly anemic?

OP posts:
RooneyMara · 29/11/2012 10:17

You might be anaemic - I felt dreadful when my iron got low. It's back up now and I still get the tiredness, but my appetite is back, and I am generally much more 'alive' Grin

Let us know what they say x

ilovegarlicbread · 29/11/2012 12:34

According to my results i'm completely normal which is good. I do feel alot better for just sitting and not doing much. Maybe i need to slow right down? I am a bit of a busy bee and find it hard to stop. As for the leaking its not as bad and baby wriggling away happily so will quiz my mw further at my app. next week. Hope everything going ok for everyone else.
