Nub theory - fact or fiction?

Had scan today at 13 1/2 weeks. DH and I had a bit of fun guessing gender based on 'nub theory', if this theory is true quite clearly a little boy inside of me! Must admit we just saw it as a bit of fun and nothing serious but did wonder is there anything to it?
surely if there was it would be more popular?

Interestingly we just compared DS1 12 week scan photo with theory and he definately would have come out as a boy as well. however there is a 50:50 chance of getting it right whatever!!

Un fortunately based on my scan pic I should be carrying a little girl now. 4 scans including a 4d scan with very clear winjy evidence later and I will be amazed if this baby is not a boy.

Winky not winjy!!

Looking at my 12 scans which aren't very good because this is a wiggly little bean! I think the nub is more horizontal which means a girl?
Must admit having more girl vibes than boys, and a lot of people are saying girl only 1 or 2 say boy.
On 20 week scan I can't see any dangly bits so maybe a girl, who knows!

If over 12 weeks, baby in optimal position along with a good nub shot then it is pretty accurate.

Very accurate. Spot on with my scan.
