Hi All,

I spoke to the specialist mw for the second time today after finding out on Friday I had a 1 in 70 chance of downs with my current 13week pregnancy. I am having a CVS tomorrow and she told me that because the results were based on the blood tests rather than the nuchal scan they'd only test for the three main trisonomies rather than doing a full test.

She's said that I can pay for the full test which looks at all genetic abnormalities for about £250 but I'm not sure whether it's worth it?

Has anyone any experience of this?

Thanks.

Hi Suzy didn't want to read and run but wow - what a dilemma. Not been there at all, but I guess it woudl depend on how important it is to you to have that information, and what you'd do with it.

Logically, I'd say that it can't be essential if it's that expensive. But by the same token, it's obviously important to some women to have that option.

Tough call, and hopefully others will have more useful experience. I'm considering a provate early reassurance scan, but that's a whole different kettle of fish!

Good luck...
