Implantation bleed....your experiences

I had an implantation bleed in my first pregnancy. Having read very little about conception at that point, I thought it was a light period and only realised about 3 weeks later that I was actually pg. As I didn't pay much attention at the time, I can't really remember what it was like and am now wondering if what I am experiencing is an implantation bleed, not AF.

I don't have any of the usual AF symptoms I.e. sore boobs, cramps etc. The flow is pretty light (I only have blood when I wipe) and it's not 'red' blood like I usually get during my period. Maybe it's just slow to arrive this month and I'm trying not to get my hopes up (although I laid in bed last night thinking up thousands of scenarios in my mind) but wondered what others' experiences of implantation bleeds were. I know they say that less than 30% of women have them but worth asking I guess Smile!

I had it with both pg's. With mine, it is a single incident of a tiny bit of pinkness on the loo roll, or possibly in my underwear. Like a drop of blood in half a teaspoon of water.

One thing I do know from these boards, though, is that it varies a lot -- some women have proper bleeding.

I think it usually comes a bit before your AF would normally arrive.

Might just have to tough it out till AF is late and do a test!

Thanks teapot! I was actually surprised that AF had arrived as I've never normally been bang on 28 days for my cycle when not taking the pill. Guess I will just have to wait and see and not get my hopes up too much. Easier said than done though! Wink

I had 2 episodes of bleeding right before getting my BFP. The first was at 8DPO, was bright red and lasted a whole day. It was not as heavy as AF but heavy enough to need a panty liner. The second episode was at 11DPO and was browner, lighter and lasted only a few hours. I tested at 13DPO and got a BFP. I think one of these bouts was probably implantation but goodness knows which one and the other is just unexplained! If your bleeding was implantation then a test should come up positive a few days later so you can put yourself out of your misery. Good luck! Grin

Thanks Rache1S! I've decided not to test again until the wend. That should give either my hormones the chance to rise or af to arrive if I'm not pg! This is def not af though. Barely enough blood for one pantyliner the last 2 days. Normally my first few days are relatively heavy! Who made conceiving so bloody complicated? I thought it was a pretty simple process but apparently not!!!! Wink

I didn't have any bleeding, but weirdly I remember around that time I woke up in the night with very painful period-type pains - really weird they were. Popped 2 paracetamol and went back to sleep, it was only when I realised I was pg what was probably going on back then...

i had quiet a bit with dd, i thought it was af two weeks early, did a positive test then continued to bleed (light pink spotting) as i mc before i was scanned at 7 weeks and there she was a little bean with a clear heatbeat. poas with an early detection test, good luck

Hi. Wonder if anyone has had an experience with early scans showing the wrong size baby! I am supposedly 6 + 4 and had a scan yesterday as I've been bleeding quite heavily and having bad cramps. I am convinced I am miscarrying having done so before but when they scanned yesterday the pregnancy was still there. Cervix was shut and I wasn't actively bleeding when the doc looked.

That all sounds quite positive except that the sac only measured 4 weeks so its well under what it should be. This suggests to me that the pregnancy stopped at 4 weeks and I will miscarry any time now. My first miscarriage was a missed one...baby died at 8 weeks but I didn't know until 12 weeks when I lost it. They couldn't see a heartbeat yesterday but didn't seem concerned as it wouldn't show up at that stage anyway, but I have to wait a week to get rescanned and hope I don't miscarry in the meantime.

I'm petrified of miscarrying, not only because it means losing another baby, but because I'm scared of the pain too :(

Any thoughts?
