What happened to me was - fasted from 8pm the night before, early morning arrived at hospital, called in for specialist MW to take blood sample, she supervised me whilst I drank a about 600ml of lucozade (YUK) over 10 mins, I had to go away for two hours and not do any physical activity, go back and have a second blood sample taken.

Did they send you any info about it when they wrote to tell you about your appt?

Hi, you fast from midnight tonight then tomorrow only water if you are thirsty. They will take your maternity notes, then call you through and take a blood test.
They will then give you a glucose drink to drink immediately ( is like a syrupy drink, not unpleasant. Then will ask you to drink a beaker of water 5 mins later.
You then sit and read/wait/watch some awful programme on the waiting room TV for just under 2 hours. They will then call you back through to have a further blood test.
When that's done you are all done and allowed home.

Take a book.
Take something to eat for after your second blood test as you will be ravenous by then ( or possibly even feeling a little faint / unwell if your not good with not eating) and a drink.

Hope all goes well and it comes back negative. They usually phone you later the same day or they day after and give you your results.

I had gestational diabetes with my first two pregnancy ( family history of diabetes) but this pregnancy I have been given the all clear so far and I'm 30 weeks Smile

At mine had bloods and finger prick blood sugar test on arrival, then drank the lucozade, sent to wait and burp a lot then had bloods and finger prick repeated at 1 hour and 2 hours after the lucozade. Next day got a phone call saying the 1 hour blood sugar was a little elevated and that meant I had GD.

Thanks guys. Had it this morning. Won't find out results until Wednesday. Are there any tell tale signs of gestational diabetes?

Most of the symptoms, like frequent urination and tiredness, are common pregnancy symptoms anyway, so just a case of waiting for the results. Good luck, but if it comes to the worst, GD is really not as bad as you think.
