bra recommendations

I'm after a comfy, supportive (pref underwired) maternity/nursing bra. Ive had mothercare + m+s in previous pregnancies and hated them. Don't want to shell out too much money. I'm 18 weeks at the mo and have just been in normal bras so far. I'm about a 34d/dd at the mo.

I would recommend bras4mums.co.uk. If you call them they are really helpful or can offer advice via email. I had a Royce bra when I was pregnant which was really comfortable (and I was a 42K!). It was a softcup but they do also sell underwired.

DD2 didn't cost much as I still had loads of baby stuff left from DD1 - so I treated myself to a hotmilk bra. I loved it so much I bought another 2 and now will wear nothing else. They are not underwired but just as supportive - or more. Super comfy, and from a breast-feeding pov I barely leak in them, unlike cheapy bras.

If you don't fancy that then I, too, had a Royce and it was good - until I tried hotmilk and that ruined me for anything else!

I would recommend going to Bravissimo and getting them to fit you they are great last pregnancy/while breastfeeding my size changed a few times and each time I left Braissimo really pleased I had a well fitting bra. My boobs went up to a H last time. Ugh!

Hi, will check out Royce. I don't have any decent shops near here so it will have to be online. Have heard about Hot Milk but sadly just too pricey for me.

anita underwired ones are good but I wouldn't get one until you have been breastfeeding for about 3 months - before that point your size might be all over the place. Once you stop getting engorged the underwired ones are fine.

I don't think underwired maternity bras (as opposed to nursing bras) exist. What would be the difference from a normal underwired bra? I am large of nork and I just wore ordinary bras until the bump made the wires uncomfortable (30+ weeks). Most important thing is to get refitted regularly and make sure you are in the right size. So not in Marks and Spencers then. Bravissimo is always a good bet. They sorted me out with new bras when I was about 3 months pregnant which lasted until 7 months when I was a bit bigger and the wires were no longer comfortable. Then I went into sports type bras until the birth, when I moved into nursing bras.

I had underwired maternity and nursing bras. I think they were from a company called Anita. They were really comfortable - highly recommended.

For nighttime I used bravado seamless tank tops.

I found bravado soooo comfortable! Not underwired but fab and supportive- I was around a 36e before pregnancy and found them great!

I love Bravado bras too. I am 37 weeks pregnant and have been wearing them for ages. I have a couple of styles, this one which I wear the most and this one which I wear when I want something lower cut. Both are very comfy.

I am 23 weeks pregnant with DC2 and wearing my anita underwired bras from breastfeeding DS1. They are really really comfy. Te underwire is supportive but a lot less rigid than normal underwored bras (i am currently a 34hh so need serious cantilevering). I got them from figleaves.co.uk.

I have just ordered a non wired one from brastop. I'm 24 weeks and quite well endowed in the boobage area and I have just started growing out of my normal bras. It was less than £20 so I just hope it will do the job and support my growing knockers as I've found it difficult to find larger sizes that are also reasonably priced and underwire has stared digging in so thought I'd try my luck!

Ladies, I've just been on the hotmilk site and they are doing 50% off everything tomorrow only - 26th November...

Another vote for bravado here, I'm big boobed and find them so supportive and so comfy. But you do need to probably get to a shop that stocks them and try on,I tried on about 10 before we found the right one.
I think proper comfy supportive feeding bras are really worth investing in (my Brabado was £25).

thanks for all the advice. My boobs have grown AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I quite like the look of the multi-sized bravado - not for style that's for sure, purely because it covers a couple of sizes so I'd hope that I'd get value for money... Def going to have to find somewhere that does free delivery & returns and try on LOADS as I hate bra shopping and find it really difficult to get a decent fit.

Just wanted to add my own recent experiences re bras...I'm 4 months pregnant, usually a 34DD and whilst I've only gone up to around a 36E so far, my normal bras were definitely feeling uncomfortable. I tried on 9 in Marks and Sparks yesterday and left in a huff (I don't know if I'm alone in this but as a DDplus cup I don't want a goddam plunge bra, M&S - I'm not 21. Where are the balconies?!)

There was one that looked promising in M&S but they didn't have the size I thought I needed - it was a Perfect Fit Memory Foam (!) T-Shirt bra that came in nude, black and white.

Anyway, in the end I went to a small local shop and bought a very comfy Lepel (non-plunge) t-shirt bra for about £20, and then I went to Sainsburys and bought their Luxury T-shirt bra for a bargainous £8!

Then I got home and read something about how you shouldn't be wearing underwired bras during pregnancy as they an restrict milk duct development gaaaaaah.

Anyhoodle, hope the above recs are useful for somebody else.

None of the bras were marked so I didn't know but when it came to paying it was half price :) yay! Nice one too

Laquila it is totally fine to wear underwired bras, as long as they fit properly.

I love the La Senza Body Kiss bra (£30 but most branches are doing 'Buy One Bra, Get One Half-Price) - all the underwiring is hidden away...it's supremely comfortable, is smooth and invisible under clothes and gives a great shape.

There is no way I'm wearing non-wired bras except at night. Having been, ahem, minimally upholstered all my life, I am going to make the most of having this newly fabulous bosom, including all the uplift and plunge and gel modern engineering can muster. Unless someone can provide evidence they will actually break my boobs.
