is this the mucous plug/show - only 29 weeks!

i have just been loo and there was a small muscousy bogey looking thing there, it is as big as a finger nail and very springy. its not like normal discharge but it is pale green in colour like a winter bogey.

ive never had a show before so have no idea what im looking for. i had a cervical stitch put in at 23 weeks because a scan showed my cervix to be thinning.

i am panicing and to make it all worse dp is having a go at me because aparently this is all my fault because i took the kids to the park today instead of resting! :(

It doesn't sound like thwe show I had, mine contained a small amount of blood but I guess they could vary.

It also doesn't mean that baby is on its way, do you have an appointment with the Dr or MW soon? Its always best to phone one of them, they may ask for you to come and be examined.

My show was much looser than that and blood tinged but I'm not entirely sure if thats generally what they're like. Sit down for a while and see if you notice any other subtle things going on. DP needs to relax, nothing to do with the park. Life (sadly) has to go on where kids are concerned. Good luck.

it sounds like some of the mucous, however, try not to worry as this happened to me with 2 of my pregs, i actually lost some of my plug at 13 weeks with ds, however, it just means that a bit at the bottom of your cervix has come away and your cervix is probably still tightly shut, to be on the safr side though i would ring the mu and speak to a midwife, they might want you in so that they can check your cervix is still shut, with a stitch in though you should be fine.

Hard to tell from a description.

Can you ring up the maternity admissions where you are booked to deliver? Sounds like it would be worth getting them to check things for you. They should see you straight away rather than if you go to A&E or call emergency doctor.

mine was clear not greeny but not sure if greeny is normal too. Possible thrush??

i am not seeing my mw for 2 weeks but i was suppose to be going to a surestart yoga session tommorrow- i think there might be a midwife there who i will ask.
i really hope i don't go into labour.

I had a show & mine was not as thick as you are describing & also mine was tinged with pink, I have my fingers crossed for you. I am sure you will be fine

I would suggest that if you have any pains to phone hospital or midwife just in case of contractions better to be safe than sorry

Slink, can you phone the labour ward? My cons said to call mine with any query even if i thought they would think i'm a waster.

Just take it easy with your feet up. Thats what i'm supposed to be doing....Found that out y'day.
And yoga is banned for me. As well as any other fun thing.

i think ill ring the labour ward tommorrow anyway, theres not much they can do now anyway so i will just take it easy and hope for the best. if its not a show i am wondering what it is- maybe some weird infection or something? although i had a swab done recently and it showed only normal flora
Also ive not exactly been Ok'd to do yoga i did not get a chance to ask my dr and the midwife i asked said no, but i have been assured by someone who did this yoga last week that its no more strenuous than a slow walk, i will go to check it out but will drop out if it gets too stretchy- im mainly going to socialise.

its so funny how i feel fine talking on mn about a large bogey coming out of down there but in real life would be so horrified!

yes went to yoga and it was fun:) i am not suppose to be exercising but it was not strenuous at all and was more about breathing and helping with back pain etc. it was more strenuous walking to the place.

i went to the labour ward this afternoon to get checked out after alot more stuff came out and they said they did not need to check it out and put me on a monitor and then sent me home.
i am still concerned as this jelly stuff is still hanging around in there and feels like its tugging when i pull on it (so so sorry for that tmi)
anyway they said unless its bloody i should not worry, however i am convinced its a show and not congealed discharge but will not go back to the hospital unless i am bleeding or in labour, although wish i had an appointment with my antenatal dr sooner than 2 weeks.

What happens if you go into labour with the stitch still in place? Not trying to worry you but I am wondering if that could be an issue - maybe worth ringing them tomorrow to ask if you haven't discussed that.

they did say it was probably congealed discharge finally breaking free, im not convinced though as they did not see it. i have collected some of my bogey in a peepot and will show someone at my next appointment or sooner if the bogey changes in anyway. i am counting the days away, really want to make it to the finish line, at least another 5 weeks anyway then ill relax slightly.

gingernut- if i went into labour with the stitch in and my cervix did try and dialate it would be very painful as it would be ripping at the cervix so to avoid a tear when i feel that pain, or regular contractions (even painless ones) i should go in for stitch to be removed.
luckily though no regular contractions, am overly paranoid of them though.

Yes, I had a feeling I had read that somewhere but couldn't remember for sure, and a bit of surfing didn't get me the answer either. Was just a bit worried that they seemed somewhat unconcerned about you really! But they know better than me (I hope!).

slinkstah - could they not do a transvaginal scan which should give you a pretty accurate picture of what if happening if anything?
