I am 12 weeks pg w DC2. Since the start I have been again blessed with a heightened sense of smell, aka wolf nostrils.

Right now, I am on a commuter train and will be here for about another 40mins. The (respectable looking, suited) man next to me clearly enjoyed a few drinks and fags this afternoon . What else are you picking up with your spidey sense?

I could smell rank stale machine coffee yesterday throughout a meeting, even though it was on the other side of the room. Ugh.

Nearly 34 weeks and still have super human sense of smell. DH's poos smell of burnt rubber. The cat smells of wet leaves. I have to empty all the bins every day because even tissues and card board smell rank.

dizzy77 · 22/11/2012 18:17

Ugh yes philbee office coffee. I have twice sat in meeting rooms where I could smell the horrible stewed flask stuff in a cup on the other side of the room.

Bonzo wish my cat smelled so pleasant! DH thinks I'm mental the amount of times I ask him to change the litter tray.

I remember this clearly after the birth last time too - my travel toilet bag has "nice" smellies and samples of things - my shower gel and deodorant haunted me in those early hours of motherhood. Will pack fragrance free this time.

I'm only 7+5 and I can smell people's bad breath a mile away Sad I had to turn away from a bloke at work as the smell was making me queezy! Also DHs morning breath knocks me sick too (has never bothered me before) Blush

I could have been a drug detection sniffer dog in early pregnancy. Was amazed at how many people smoke cannabis!

Callipygian · 22/11/2012 18:46

The place that sells 10 "chicken" nuggets and chips for £1.99 on my way back from work... I hold my breath in anticipation.

weeblueberry · 22/11/2012 18:54

I'm still smelling gas in my aunt and uncles house and they had their hob put in about 6 weeks ago! Oddly my cousin is also pregnant and can't smell it.

worsestershiresauce · 22/11/2012 19:07

DH's soap makes me heave! He was given some L'Occitane stuff, so v posh and all that, but if even the smell of it in the bathroom after he has showered makes me go green.

cupcake78 · 22/11/2012 19:34

Peppers, lettuce, cucumber, washing powder, bad breath, unwashed hair, dh if he doesn't shower before bed. Me if I don't shower/wash at least twice a day. Garlic breath makes me be sick straight away. Unclean bed sheets (by unclean I mean 3 days old or more).

Any cooking smells! The oven kills me. The bathroom can set me off.

Basically life literally stinks and makes me sick. Only 9wks Sad

Pineapple80 · 22/11/2012 22:07

I have noticed garlic breath on people! And odd things like potatoes in the oven which is normally a nice smell, doesn't smell so pleasant these days Sad

Tugstonia · 23/11/2012 07:03

My supersonic sense of smell seems to have ramped up in the last couple of weeks (now 32 wks) and I too am smelling fellow commuters' FOUL FOUL breath and general body odour. I had to move seats yesterday once man's breath was so vile and was making me retch. Do people not brush their teeth anymore?!

Pontouf · 23/11/2012 07:27

I'm not so bad now (20+6) but in my first 12 weeks my wolf nostrils were horrendous. I had to drive with the car windows open in the lemons cos I couldn't bear the smell of my DH's (fresh and minty) morning breath. I coukdn't go in the kitchen if he dishwasher was in or had been in recently. I struggled to go in the kitchen at all to be honest, especially in the mornings cos the residual cooking smells would make me boak. I was often sick in our kitchen sink while making my skn's morning milk. I hates going back into the bedroom after my shower cos incouldn't ear the smell of sleeping bodies, had to thrust the windows open (really used to piss DH off who usually sleeps longer than me. I am better now but ciggarette smoke/breath/stubs on the ground make me really nauseus. And coffee or tea breath. Or garlic breath. Other people's breath generally.....Envy

MisselthwaiteManor · 23/11/2012 07:51

I could smell the chicken in the fridge while I was in bed the other night. It was so strong I woke DP up to interrogate him as I was certain he had smuggled chicken to bed! Grin

I am rather feeling I have got off lightly here some of this sounds terrifying!

I work (thankfully only pt) on a floor full of women and I am dismayed by how many of them seem to frequently top up their perfume throughout the day. I have never really worn/enjoyed perfume anyway but now it's often a cacophony of pungent smells on the bodies around me. I think I'd rather food smells.

I can smell charred meat/bacon from a mile away too, that seems to be a craving rather than a turn off though.

Jeez, just re-read my post. Must try to wake up a bit more before attempting to type. Hopefully you all get the gist. No idea why my iPhone autocorrected mornings to lemons though! Blush

SkinnyMarinkADink · 23/11/2012 08:44

I also have a super sense of smell!

can't wait for it to go away, dh had onions for breakfast the other days and i could smell them a few days later!
