Knicker dilemma (22 wks)

My pants still fit, bit the waistband has started to dig in in an unflattering (bit not uncomfortable) way around hips. What are people doing for undies? I tried getting a size up from normal, but they were baggy in the wrong places! I usually wear hipster/ boy short style and would prefer not to spend an arm and a leg on knickers...

M&S granny pants, I loves them. In a stupid size so I only had to buy two packs as they will see me through! I can't be doing with pain in the pant department.

CityDweller · 20/11/2012 15:02

sundae Really? I was hoping to hold off on the massive knickers until later - but am I just putting off the inevitable?! Do they go all the way over your bump??

Either bikini style in a bigger size, or granny pants as sundae said. Mine are oh so flattering not and go right over my belly button.

Attractive? No. Comfy? It's like angels carressing my arse. Grin

sundaesundae · 20/11/2012 15:13

I have been wearing them since about 10 weeks (bloat stage!) just cos I could as I have no shame. Boy style are hard to wear bigger as they are big in the wrong place.

My pants come up to my boobs, yummy, but my hubby doesn't care, they do come off ;)

I finally gave up on boy shorts about a month ago (am now 25+5). Needed enormous bras anyway so I forced myself to look at briefs in a size bigger than I'd usually get whilst in the knickers and knockers dept of m&s.

Best. Decision. Ever.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 20/11/2012 16:04

I bought maternity pants from mothercare and find them so comfortable I'm still wearing them even though DD is 3 next month Blush

They are shaped for bumps but normal knicker style. I wore them even when I was huge (and I was HUGE) and big knickers would not fit no matter what size I went up to.

CityDweller · 20/11/2012 16:15

Ok! An underwear shop is in order, bras too as I'm bursting out of mine in a very unappealing way. I shall start with bikinis a size up from normal and if no good embrace the granny pant! I'm hoping this will be as liberating as my move into maternity clothes a few weeks ago. I'm wondering why one wouldn't always wear elasticated waists!

I pinched a pair of these out of DH's drawer the other night in desperation for something comfy and cool to wear in bed. (Am 29+1)

They are so comfy that I am going straight to Tesco to get some of my own!

BadgerFace · 20/11/2012 18:43

I bought some from Jojo Maman Bebe which sit under the bump which I'm still wearing in my normal size at 31 weeks. They are very comfy. www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+3-pack-maternity-knickers-in+A1506

My other staples are Gap. Again in my normal size. Something about the material they are made of is very soft and stretchy!

poocatcherchampion · 20/11/2012 18:45

Second mothercare ones. Still wearing them as I feed 8 mo dd. they look normal too!

MyDaydream · 20/11/2012 19:03

I got some no VPL knickers from Sainsbury's at around 18 weeks with a super stretchy wide lace band that are still comfy now at 36 weeks because they have so much stretch. I also got some of these the other day, I have similar styles from different places and again because they stretch so much they've been comfy throughout.

RightUpMyRue · 20/11/2012 19:07

When you say granny pants do you mean like real granny pants, floral and the size of a duvet or just plain cotton high legs types (I wear these anyway so am really hoping you mean the duvet ones!).

LittlemissChristmas · 20/11/2012 19:10

I've got some very comfy ones from mothercare that sit under bump

I got so angry with my knickers digging into my hips at 25 weeks, that I sat at my desk at work and took some scissors to one side in order to stop them pinching. Grin

Have spent the second half of pregnancy wearing stretchy lace knickers as they grow with you and are so, so comfy. No granny pants for me and I'm never wearing anything else but stretchy lace ones.

BonaDea · 22/11/2012 10:14

Am so glad someone posted thsi as I'm having the same dilemma. I have some nice wrap work dresses and the look is being ruined by digging in in the wrong places which is just horrible looking and makes me look fat in places other than my bump (not good).

Can see the logic in those lace ones but I really only like wearing cotton knickers. I think I will invest in some granny pants this weekend. Hopefully if just plain black cotton they can't look too bad....?

PeshwariNaan · 22/11/2012 10:23

I'm confused - I've managed to wear my normal knickers this whole time and I'm 32 weeks! I just wear cotton bikinis from M&S, they sit under the bump and cause no problems. Of course, I personally hate high waisted knickers anyway...

Rosiesharples · 22/11/2012 10:33

Lol! This thread made me laugh out loud on the bus! I stayed in normal knickers....which didn't end well when I went into labour with DD! I had a thong on which I couldn't get off! When eventually i got it off with help of DH I was sent home as only 3cm we stopped in asda and got some giant purple floral granny pants which were heaven! My husband cut them up 6 weeks after having DD as I kept wearing them they were so comfy!! Grin

ZuleikaD · 22/11/2012 12:43

Wearing my usual low-rise thongs.

Nikki2510 · 22/11/2012 12:59

I'm still wearing boy shorts but just a size bigger - I raided Matalan for mine and I have to say they have been really comfy so far.

Just bought some disposable ones for labour though - sexy.... not Blush Shock
