Hypnobirthing

Hello, I'm looking into hypnobirthing and wondered what experiences people had had? Useful? Worth the expense? Good for both partners? One 2 one or group classes? All feedback welcome!

Hi I did a one to one course ad felt it was well worth the expense. I plan to use it this time.

I didn't get the home birth I planned and needed to be induced with the drip- I didn't however have an epidural and put this down to the hypno birthing!

It really helped me relax during my pregnancy and helped me feel so much more prepared for birth- over and above what the antenatal classes offered me.

I did it one to one with my husband and felt this was best for me- the practitioner took through some relaxations which I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing in a small group.

It was useful for DH to understand what would be happening to me during labour too!

I cannot rate hypnoborthong enough and would recommend it. If you have any questions feel free to message me!! Though just let me know on here as I very rarely look online and use my phone!

I second what F1rst says - although this is my first child so have no experience of the birth yet!

DH and I did the one to one sessions as neither of us would have been comfortable in a group situation. We both got a lot from the course and I think it has helped DH to realise what goes on during the birth and how he can help/be a part of it.

I used to say to him before, that he needs to be my voice during the birth and let the midwives know what I want but I don't think he was comfortable with this as he felt that it should be the midwives telling us what to do (he's quite a quiet person and doesn't like to interfere in things). Since our Hypnobirthing instructor (who used to be a midwife) said the same thing he's more open to doing this now and realises that the midwives are there to help us.

The relaxations have helped us both relax during the pregnancy and I have no doubt that it'll help us relax during the birth too.

My midwife has commented on how more relaxed I am since doing the course too. So much so that now I have gone past my due date, I have decided that I do not want any interventions and will not consider anything until 2 weeks over or unless there is a problem with the baby. I believe this is because the theory behind hypnobirthing has really 'clicked' with me and I believe it to be 100% true!

Sorry for the long post, but I really do believe in hypnobirthing and think it was worth every penny!
