To what extent have you played the 'pregnancy card'?

I am now 27 weeks and I am finally clearly visibly pregnant! I haven't really used the 'I'm pregnant' card at all yet. I was given a free ticket on the bus but don't think he knew I was pregnant. I was also offered free passage to a 30p public toilet by a lovely lady - but again, I think she was just against paying for peeing as opposed to knowing I was preggars. My partner on the other hand marches about exclaiming to people "She's pregnant!! Can she have that seat?!" or "She's pregnant, do you have any cheese that isn't unpasteurised?!" or "You're pregnant, you even touch that Ikea table and it's over!"

So, I am thinking I should start to take advantage of 'being pregnant' as I may not be in this state again. As a bit of fun, where have you used your pregnant card to either get out of something or get something for free?!

disclaimer : This is a bit of tongue in cheek fun. Please no comments along the lines of "One should not manipulate situations and use this amazing gift you have been granted to take advantage of others!"

We all know being pregnant, for the most part, sucks ass. I intend on getting a few perks out of it. Bite me.

. I like to think I've been not too bad. DH may well disagree!

I'm 38 weeks at the moment and finished work at 35. I was pretty knackered from 31 weeks onwards so did used to ask for a seat on the commute to work.

I have one of those massive, heavy , orange pot roast type casserole dishes that I used yesterday and really don't want to wash it up. It weighs more than me. Thinking can I get him to do it? "I can't wash up that bowl, I'm pregnant?" or is that a tad too far. mmm......

Haven't at all but then I have 2 other dcs (5 and 3) to run round after and really don't have the chance to. I expect if this was my first I may have played on it by now (35 wks). It doesn't really wash with small children that you cant be bothered can't do what they want because you're pregnant. And dh is at work most days so can't always help out as much as he'd like. But bless him he does try :)

I got upgraded to first class on a train for free when there weren't any seats left in standard and I felt grim. Otherwise I'd have had to stand for an hour and there was a good chance it wouldn't end well!

Urm first time around i didnt do the hoovering, clean out the small furry mammals, lift anything...
This time DP is so non plussed / wise to it ive been moving chests of drawers by myself!!

In public no one round here seems to give a shit!!! I asked a man for his seat in the maternity dept of the hospital and the rude bastard still did the "oh, really" type response... No pal you rest your weary legs must be hard carrying around that pie gut

I occasionally got a seat on the train whilst feeling sick and when writing a letter to worst late western about their shocking service threw in that they had abandoned a pregnant woman at an unstaffed station. But generally I didn't "play" it, I won't want to feed into a societal idea that pregnant women are incapable.

Noble - So jealous that you got upgraded to first class! Now that's what I am talking about.
Strawberries - what a rude man! Grrrrrr....

Oooooh - just remembered. I got a free coffee last week as was in costa. Put in my order and then they said the card machine wasn't working. I asked where the nearest bank was to get cash out but the sait it was fine and I could have both on the house as it was quite a walk away for me to walk waddle

Ooh, I like it! When I was pg with DD we left a wedding indecently early as someone we were with wasn't feeling well, but I felt it would add more weight so I added 'and I'm SEVEN MONTHS PREGNANT!'

Last time I had DH ask whether the salad at the holiday resort we were at was washed in tap or bottles water. Like anyone washes salad in bottled water.

This time I've been pretty good I think. No diva behaviour yet. Am only 19 weeks though.

I just remembered another one - we waited and waited for the council to fix the drain outside our house and I finally emailed the councillor and said 'I am NINE MONTHS PREGNANT and for weeks I have had to walk through RAW SEWAGE whenever I leave my house!' They came that afternoon.

Got a free train ticket - machine was broken at my starting station and when I got to the destination the man said I could just go straight through as he could see my 'condition'.. Another time had a free upgrade to first class.

But after I had the baby, I got bought cups of tea by strangers three times just because 'they remembered what it was like' and was allowed to sit in 1st class loads of times so I didn't have to fold down the buggy.

I got offered a seat at the weekend when waiting outside a shop for DP, but I wasn't going to move anyone so I could sit down. I think the lady probably just remembered being so pregnant and I looked so miserable she moved for me.
I've not really played it much at all, usually to get DP to get me a drink (never works). FIL made an awful dinner in the early days that I think he put a whole tub of salt into, I just played morning sickness and left it! I think I've said "I'm only pregnant" when people stop me doing something more than "but I'm pregnant".

I mainly used the 'pregnancy craving' card with DH when I wanted something nice to eat and I couldn't be bothered to get off my fat pregnant arse. He held the view that has been drummed in to most men by tv and films that if a preganant woman wants something odd to eat at 2 am then you HAVE to go and get it. I'm sure the domino's delivery driver thought I was just getting fatter, not growing a baby.

I'm not visible yet so can only take advantage of DP at the moment. He cooks, cleans, washes up whenever I can't be bothered have a moment of pregnant exhaustion. It's become a bit of a joke. "Go fetch me some chocolate from the kitchen please DP? I'd do it myself but I'm pregnant."

I am not pregnant and regret not playing whole decks of pregnancy cards all the bloody time. If I could go back in time I would advise the pregnant me, on each occasion, to get some big fuck-off cocktail rings with the aces, hearts, clubs and spades on, and do a big glittering riffly shuffle of a double pack of pregnancy cards, and play every single one in a fucking row, every day.

That is what you should do now.

In London during the tube strike, I had to wait for ages for a bus to work when about 7 months pregnant as couldn't get on any let alone get a seat. Called into Pret near my office at about 11am (I was so late go work it was unreal) and I figured I deserved a hot chocolate! They gave it to me for free. Totally made my day

I used the Parent & Child parking at Tesco when I got 36 weeks. I couldn't get my car door open wide enough to get out in a standard space

I asked for help carrying shopping to my car when I was in Homebase.

Oh I'm awful and I'm only 18 weeks To be fair though its mostly DH he won't let me do anything insists on me not doing any cleaning or walking too far. I'm not going to argue with him since the first time around I had no choice but to walk for miles all the time.
