With this pg did you refrain from dtd in first 12 weeks? I am 8-9 weeks and DHs birthday is next week and we are going away. So far we have not dtd after some reading they suggest not to but it just feels so mean! Will it make any difference at this stage?

We didn't refrain, at all. To some extent we just ignored it - we had no expectation that this pregnancy would work out either so we didn't pander to it or think about it or bond with it or anything until we were past 12 weeks. I do strongly believe that there's nothing you can do to make it stick if it's not viable but equally it's quite difficult to shift if it is a viable one.

Good luck :)

That's a great way to think of it thank you Smile

Sorry to gatecrash your thread but is DTD whilst pregnant meant to increase your chances of mc? I've never heard that before?

LittlemissChristmas · 15/11/2012 15:03

I don't think it can definitely increase but in articles about recurrent mc they recommend you avoid. I'm not sure if its because it has an actual effect, or if you then don't blame yourself if you do mc.
They haven't found a cause for my mc, and I'm sure it's just one of those things, but I've cut out caffeine too just to be safe.

I was in the same boat really. 2 consecutive m/c (after 1 healthy pregnancy) & was avoiding std 'just in case'. Then around 8wks thought 'sod it,if its meant to be its meant to be'. I think otherwise I'd have been worrying about something else I was doing 'wrong' anyway! Currently 18wks. Do whatever you're comfortable with & all the v best with your pregnancy :)

Std?! Dtd obviously!!
