For the past few days I have had an unbearable ache in my jaw where my wisdom tooth is coming through.

The tooth has completely broken the gum and is obviously too big for my mouth as I can't open my mouth properly and I can feel it putting a lot of pressure on my other teeth.

It's causing me a huge amount of pain and I'm struggling to eat because I can't open my mouth.

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and wondering what I should do?

I don't like the idea of having novacain or anything during pregnancy but what else can I do?

Anyone had wisdom teeth out during pregnancy?

Hi. One of my wisdom teeth recently poked through (am now 28 wks pregnant). Dentist said they don't want to administer anaesthetic so they're going to wait till after the birth. BUT it's not causing me pain or any harm the way it is. And my guess is they just like to be over cautious. So, I would guess there is pain relief you can have, and that this can be sorted out. You have a long time to go at only 12 weeks! Would just go see dentist and discuss. Good luck.

Tell the dentist. They are highly trained medical professsionals and won't put you or your baby at risk provided they know the facts. Go speak to them.

i don't know for sure, but I think local anaesthetic is alright during pregnancy...especially if the alternative is you being in agony for months.

I know dentists dont like doing x-rays during pregnancy, but am sure a few of my friends have had fillings done using novocaine at various points in their pregnancy. I am sure your dentist will be able to advise you tomorrow.

Good luck!
