Is there such a thing of developing a failed pregnancy with no warning signs what so ever?

Do you mean a miscarriage, or something else?

Quackers · 05/01/2004 21:02

Yes, a missed miscarriage can happen when the baby dies but the body does not react to it for many weeks or even months. It is quite common as far as miscarriages go. Have a look at the miscarriage association website for more info.

I was thinking of molar pregnancy, too, other things I don't know about, maybe.

popsycal · 05/01/2004 21:12

this happened to a friend of a friend

suzywong · 05/01/2004 21:14

It is insesitively called a 'missed abortion' and there are no signs, but it is usually picked up on a scan.
Ohboy, is this what has happened, I have been in that situation if you want someone to talk to.

Quackers · 06/01/2004 08:59

Ohboy, are you ok? Was this a general question or do you have some worries yourself. If you want to talk about missed miscarriages, we have a lovely group on the miscarriage thread 'Will I ever have a baby', many of us have had a missed miscarriage and it might help you to chat. Take care.xxxx

in my past I have had 3 failed pregnancies 2 were miscarriages and the last the baby lost its heart beat. i am 3 months pregnant now and very nervous that something will go wrong. i do see my doc. once a week but last week he cancelled for a delivery so i feel sooooooo lost now. i do have an appointment today and i am petrified. i have been through it all before going for a sonogram and receiving bad news and i can't bear the thought of that happening again. every time my pregnancy failed i always had some type of warning signs either brown discharge staining or bleeding. being as paranoid as i am, thats where my first question came from**Is there such a thing of developing a failed pregnancy with no warning signs what so ever?

sending you hugs and empathy, keep us posted whatever the outcome

Ohboy, sympathies to you. I have had 2 missed abortions. In answer to your question I am aftraid the answer is Yes, it is possible to lose a pregnancy with no warning signs. This happened to me in October. I had a scan at 12 weeks and had no reason to believe I had miscarried again but the scan showed no heartbeat. It can take weeks or months for your body to start an actual miscarriage. I really hope this isnt the case for you. Is there an early pregnancy unit or a sympathetic midwife who could get you a scan at short notice, you should be entitled to some reassurance after what you ahve been through.

I do feel for you OHboy and like Bunny I had no signs either. However, I have been so reassured by frequent Doctors visits etc... It does help and understand why you are apprehensive having missed an appointment. Do you have a scan coming up soon? Thinking of you and take care. There is a thread for pregnancy after m/c,haven't been on for a while, but it is a great support!
