Tender tummy after exam - normal?

I am 39+5 with my first baby & have had another exam today which has left me tender & bruised. I have had four external exams to determine the position of my baby since 30 weeks. The first was by a student midwife & although it felt a bit heavy handed at the time it didn't actually hurt & I didn't know what to expect, a couple of hours later I was in bed with a tender, almost crampy, abdomen. The next two exams were by a different, experienced midwife & I commented on how light she was with her hands & she asked why I commented so I told her.
Today was a totally different midwife & I did tell her that I was tender & a little painful as she was trying to feel how engaged the head was but she didn't really stop poking, just poked & asked " just there?" This evening I am really sore & the skin looks bruised (in amongst the stretchmarks!)
Am I being a wimp? I'm normally really pain tolerant, except with toothache, had loads of surgical procedures & broken bones. Do I have any hope of having this baby without begging the midwives not to touch me?

Ok, just me then, I'll just have to grin & bear it knowing it's just the start of lots of pain to come!

I'm nowhere near as far as you (15+6) but I felt bruised and tender after my 12 week scan. Makes me a bit nervous about the next one.

I had this after my mw appt on Friday, I'm 31+2. Experienced mw trying to feel if head was down and dug around really hard. Didn't hurt at the time but the last couple of days I've been really sore and felt bruised at the bottom of my bump, and massively paranoid she squished my baby's head (daft I know!). So I sympathise! I guess just ask mw to be gentle when examining you. Good luck :)

I'm on baby number 4 & I hate being poked and prodded so I always ask MW to only examine when it's vital and to plse do it gently as I don't like it! They have all been fine, I'm 7+ months now and only had one examination so don't worry as my MW said I'm not the only one! When I was pg with my DT I was the same & everyone and his friend wanted a feel then but again I said no!! I let them do their thing at scans but I do mention I don't like it as I'm rather tender, 9 times out of 10 they are gentle!

I've no idea why I'm so sensitive, though I am the same if someone prods me in the ribs, I've had to stop myself from prodding the offender in the eye before now!!!
Flamin I had the same at my 12 wk scan, the one at 20 weeks was much more bearable, in fact I don't remember any tenderness at all & I had to keep turning onto my side because the baby was lying in way that made it difficult for measuring.
Tugstonia on my second exam at 34 wks which was by the "light" midwife, she said it was all a bit of a guess anyway!! Makes you wonder - why bother!
Surfin I think if I do this again I'll take a lead from you & ask them if it's really needed first. My Mum has said at least they are moving on from the internal exam she had every couple of weeks - eeekk!

I remember being very tender and a bit sore after my 20 week scan. am 25 weeks now so lots more prodding to come I imagine!

I had my dating scan today (I'm 13 weeks) and I found it incredibly painful. I was squeezing the life out of my husbands hand! I have always been sensitive to pressure like that. If ever poked or stomach examined or anything that involves pressure pushing onto me I find it incredibly painful. Wonder if there's a cause?
