5 days late and negative pregnancy test

My period is 5 days late however usually my period comes every 3 weeks and not 4. Ive done countless tests and yet negative results. The tests i have used are cheap ones off amazon and a asda cheap test. How long should i wait till the next test? Should i go to the doctors?

If your period is 5 days late and you ovulated when you thought you did, then pregnancy tests (of any variety and cost!) would almost definitely be showing positive by now (there are some women where it takes longer, but they're in the tiny tiny minority).

So my guess is that you've had a weird cycle with delayed ovulation for whatever reason - have you lost/gained a lot of weight, been stressed, exercised a lot more than usual, done lots of travelling etc? All these things can delay ovulation and so make a cycle longer than normal (without a pregnancy).

I'd give it another week for your period to start, take another test, and then if still negative you can either just wait it out until your period begins again (sometimes you can skip a cycle for no apparent reason too - so no ovulation or bleed), or go see the doctor to get hormone levels checked.

I agree if you're pretty regular, either you ovulated late hence no period/ even if you are pregnant too early for positives or this is an annovulatory cycle - so you didn't ovulate, most women have about one a year. My last one I was 5 days late. Time will tell either way. I agree with giving it another week.

There are people on here who have not got their BFP's until 1-2 weeks late, I don't want to give you false hope - but it's not over just yet.

Having said that, I did often have the odd random long cycle when ttcing and it's very frustrating.

Are you testing for ovulation? I would use that as your guide to when you are due as normally the time between ovulating and AF (if not PG) is pretty set for most people at 14 days. It's the time between CD1 and ovulation which can vary.

That said - if not AF in a couple of days, try a First Response Test (on offer in Tesco I think). I got BFN's with cheapies on the morning of 14DPO and a BFP with a FRER in the afternoon.

i have lost about 2stone in weight so that could be my issue. Also ive done so much execising so fingers crossed :)

I am now 2 weeks late and its driving me insane! I did a test first thing this morning and it was negative. Im going to get a doctors appointment this morning . My hubby wants me to wait for another 2 weeks but theres only so much frustration i can go through!

Do you have any other pregnancy symptoms?

I didn't get a positive test until just before I went for my 12 wek scan, but I had lots of other symptoms (sore boobs, morning sickness etc). The doctor I saw at 6 weeks was pretty relaxed about the negative tests I had had at that point

Yesterday i had some spotting i believe i had some white discharge with some dark brown blood in it but there was no other blood that has followed. My boobs are tender and my nipples have turned very dark in colour. Ive been feeling funny feelings like a twinging feeling on the bottom of my tummy like a pulling almost. I have been feeling sick but i havent been sick. I have had terrible backaches and pains in my left hand side. Im ever so tired all the time and im weeing for England! I have had two children before now and neither were this must trouble in finding out which is why i am rather confused.

Today i am 17 days late and getting frustrated!

Did you get your drs appt on wed? I think at this stage a blood test is the only thing going to put your mind at ease.

I didnt no i dont like to get an appointment if i can solve the issue myself. But my hubby and i agree i should go on monday.

Sadly my period started today so upset :( Really surprised but never mind. Keep on trying

Sorry to hear that. I wonder if you ovulated late for some reason hence the late period. Hope to happens soon for you.
