Peaches Geldof: Having second baby very soon after first!

It's in the news today that Peaches Geldof is three and a half months pregnant with her second child. She had her son, Astala, in April. I'm sure there are advantages to having siblings close together, but let's just say that there would have been NO chance of a similar feat being achieved in our house. IF you know what I mean!

Had Peaches seen the mum with the newborn and the 11 month old at our toddler group just before I went back to work, ot wouldn't be happening in the Geldof household either.....

i suppose it gets all the sleepless nights out of the way in one go.

They do say you get pregnant very quickly after giving birth don't they? As in you tend to be very fertile just after having the baby.

I already assumed that she was pregnant a few weeks ago on Instagram. She and her husband as well as a few fans got very aggressive and insulted me and today HURRA I found out she is pregnant. Maybe I knew it before she did.

My oldest two are 14 months apart and tbh they were an absolute breeze, the ate, they slept, they hardly ever cried.

just under 11 months between my oldest two. i fell pregnant strait away and although it was a suprise and i was scared stiff how i would cope, it wasnt that much harder than having just one. i was still in full swing of nappy changing feeding and lack of sleep, there was no gap which i think made it a little easier. good luck to her i say.

i have 13 months between mine - it took over 2 years to conceive the first so we took adavantage of the fertility after pregnancy.

I read an interview with her a short while ago - she has fertility issues such as PCOS and lost a Fallopian tube with an ectopic pregnancy a number of years ago - I guess she'd making the most of the postpartum fertility spike!

Good luck to her, my eldest two are 16mnths apart, dc3 is due to arrive when they're 4.1yo and 5.5yo. I think that says all I need to on how much I liked my close age gap.

Mine were actually not too bad........but my OH got the snip before No2 was a year old - and that includes the NHS waiting time! So we went from Fertility investigations to two kids and having the snip withing 3 years :o

Congratulations to her I say. DD will be 17 months when DC3 arrives, we started trying when she was 8 weeks.

I read that about her having fertility issues too. She said she was not expecting to be able to have children at all. Good luck to her :)

Out of interest did all of you with small gaps get your periods back straight away?

We got back into the swing of things sexually quite quickly and didn't use contraception, but breastfeeding delayed my periods for a whole year and I didn't conceive number 2 for 2.4 years!

No period and breastfeeding - still got pregnant.

I'm keen to have our third close in age to our 2nd, but have read that it's not the best choice in respect of nutrient reserves etc available for the younger baby - that it takes a year or two for a woman to replenish everything she lost during pregnancy and so it's best not to have another super soon (if it's planned!).

Is this yet another pregnancy myth / can you combat it by being extra careful about nutrition etc? Any experience?

My younger son is equally robust as my elder - he's 11 and 5'3 and solid with it - has had one day off sick from school since he was 6 - had 3 or 4 off before that with the usual bugs. But then I have always been the same too - I am rarely ill, have a pretty good diet - exercise is a bit of an issue :) I had sacroiliac hip disfunction with both pregnancies and still have weak hips - I only really notice this when sleeping in a different bed on holiday etc and then it can be pretty uncomfortable - whether that is worse because of the two close pregnancies I have no idea.

That's kind of what I'm thinking - good genes/habits are good genes/habits whether there's 10m or 10yrs between babies...

You might be very fertile after childbirth, but you still only get pregnant if you have sex! What I was driving at in my original post was that I could never have had two babies in one year because - physically and emotionally - I couldn't have performed my, er, "wifely duties" for quite a while after childbirth. My DH was so traumatised by what he saw in the delivery room that he didn't seem all that keen either!

I'm 6 weeks pregnant & have a 5 month old. Massive shock - it took over 2 years to conceive my son. Good luck to me & peaches, ha ha!

There is a 15 month age gap between my son and twin girls.
